Ok here is the dilemma. Diesel just got his ears cropped a week ago. The vet told me that if the tape came off I don't have to worry about it, just to cut the string in the middle. I thought that was a little wierd but I have no experience so I just listened to my vet. The tape ended up coming off within two days. When I took him in to get his stitches out they taped them back up. He told me again if the tape comes off you don't have to worry about it. That was yesterday. The tape came off today and I just cant help but to worry that his ears are not going to stand.  I have no experience with cropping ears, Im just confused beacuse for the ears to stand up...don't they need to actually be up? Should I tape them back up myself, or do what the vet says. Should I post them? How do I get the tape to actually stay on! Besides an E-Collar I had one on him the first time and he seemed so depressed! I just can't do that to him again unless its absolutely necessary! And lastly should I be getting a new vet? Please help!

This is really easy. I helped a friend post her Dane's ears using this method.

If his ears were just cropped a week ago and his stitches just came out, I would assume that the edges are not completely healed yet.  One doesn't start posting the ears until the edges are healed.

Yes, do nothing until the edges are healed.

Although some people tape the ears up to a cup or a sponge while the ears are healing, some others just leave them hanging.  Another easy method while they are healing is to lay one ear over the head, lay the other ear over it and tape around the head, leaving the incision edges out to the air.

oh ok thank you! i think im just gonna leave them alone until they heal. i dont want to take any chances on hurting him or messing anything up. he goes back to the vet the 22nd so hopefully they are healed by then. thank you very much for the help i have been freaking out over all of this. now i can calm down!
