Hello guys, this is my first post as im a new member!

I just recently got my doberman, a black male named drughi from a local breeder. I got him when he was 10 weeks olds and today is 14 weeks old. I did hes ears at 11.5  weeks with the Vets instractions. It took a good 2 weeks to fully heal and now we are at the 5th day of posting. So far, no problems at all. I did and do the posting myself, as i have really do a great research online for this matter well before i even got the dog. I think i have see and read all the articles on the internet regarding this matter.

My question is, when do i know that the ears are ready? I have change the first posting tapes at 3 days to make sure that everything is ok and the ears was fully up(picture atteached is from 3 days posting) but im fully aware that is way to early. I have not found anything online regarding timetables for this and i know that every dog is different. Is there any signs to tell that the ears are ready?

And something more. Please let me know how long i must left the ears untapped betweem tapings. I have seen many suggestions online and i dont know what is best for my doberman.

Thanks in advance!

He is gorgeous:) Did you have the ears cropped or did the vet use laser? I am also new Dobi owner. I adopted him at 14 weeks with his natural floppy ears. I absolutely love the cropped ears but for my boy I belive its to late.

Your dog looks great. Did you notice him being in a lot of discomfort after surgery? I use to have a Min-pin and we did get his ears cropped but those were little ears compared to Doberman.

Can't give you advice on the ears just a complement on a very beautiful dog:)

Hello and thanks for your compliments:D No it was a normal cut, with a blade or something. I was there to the whole operation. I started posting at 14 weeks and as you see i have no problem at all, but you must take into considiration that you need an extra 2 weeks for healing so you will be at 16 weeks.. i dont know, i really dont have the expirience to guide you thru this.

I was too worried about the surgery and how the dog will feel, (to the point i was not sure if i was gonna take a doberman) but let me tell you something. It was like nothing happen!! It was a bit dizzy for the first 2 hours we took him home but after that it was absolutly normal! no pain, no scratches no nothing!

I agree all pups are different.  We post bane on Sunday night and let him "rest" Friday.  We still notice that his ears like to cross at the tips. We think the breeder was just taping the tips together:/. With lex he was done training by 6mths but since bane wasn't done right we are almost retraining. Your baby's ears look fantastic :) good luck :)
