Hi all, took Blade this morning to vet, he had diarrhea for last several days only in evening, but he did throw up in the middle of the night last night and did not wanted to eat this morning, had diarrhea as water this morning .... so we went to see vet.

Everything checked out good, no temperature, no parasites. Doctor said that most likely it was caused by the hoof I got him this week to chew on, and possibly escalated by Bully stick that I got him last night.

We got some meds for tummy, and orders to stay off the huff and Bully stick. Huff can cause upset tummy.

Now we know, and you do too.

my dogs have never gotten sick from eating those and they get them all the time....all though i try to stay away from the hooves cuz to me they smell like urine and skunk once chewed on......those items are all natural so i dont see why it would cause an upset

I haven't tried in months because I never could find any kind of chewie that didn't upset Fancy's tummy.  We're stuck with the hard rubber stuff.  One thing I learned on this forum that really help with the teething was to dampen a cloth and freeze it.  Fancy loved them and would keep her busy.  Of course you have to keep an eagle eye, we all know how easy it is to get things down their little gullets!  Kisses to Blade, we hope you feel better soon!

Newtodogs- Leo had the same situation with the wrapped and fresh bones. It was only slight when he was younger, but about 5 months he had a huge reaction two bones in two days. Poor guy couldn't make it outside and bless him he tried every time. Now I get the white, bleached bones and put a chicken jerky inside. He gets some chewing action, trying to get the jerky out. But it doesn't hold the interest like a fresh knuckle bone. Perhaps their young digestive systems just can't handle it yet. Maybe we'll try again in a fewonths, but definitely small amounts. Hope Blade is back to himself quickly!

Hope Blade feels better soon.  I am now armed with some intest. calming brown junk and sick to stomch. pills b/c of Reesie's big throw up/ diarrhea fiasco this past weekend.  Not fun.  I know it's not been fun for you either.  I knew sensitive stomachs ran in my family, but geez....

LOVE that photo of Blade---taking time to smell the flowers!  My dogs can't eat rawhide chews without getting sick.  And beef rib bones, no matter how big they are, make them sick.  Not just Ziva, but the little dogs as well.  Live and learn.  Hope Blade is feeling better today.  He has such a sweet face!

Blade had not so good day yesterday and gave me a scare. All he did was lay down, often shaking, did not eat, and even did not show any interest in the kitty who bravely came to check on him. I talked to doctor over the phone later in the evening, and doc said to bring him in to office in the morning if he is not back to normal self, and Blade will get tested for parvo and x-rayed for objects.

Doc said to give him Pedia Light to drink, which Blade did not wanted to drink. I have a hard time drinking that stuff myself, it's awful. Meds that doc gave thankfully smell like peanut butter, and Blade does not mind taking those.

Thank God, Blade is back to perky self this morning, chasing kitties, eating a little, and playing with his toys. I hope that huff was the reason for this, and nothing else. But, oh boy, it sure messed my boy up.

Resting this morning, next to computer chair.
