Hi again, we in the southern hemisphere are having a very bad season for ticks.

I found one on my boy Jeter and removed it with tweezers, however I dont feel it went well.

Doing some research I have found some solutions for next time.

I wanted to share with you and hear if you have any other tips for this topic.

My plan next time is;

Tick Key (ebay) or spinning removal method (youtube it)

My dogs are treated with Advantix but I dont want to leave a tick sucking on them.

Anyone else have any tips ?

We use a 'Tom O Tick' which is a little hook that you place round the tick and spin it round, this ensures that the head is removed too.   I'm in Scotland and we have had loads this year too.   it is worse on my little terrier as he has a shaggy coat so it is not easy to see them.   Cleo had one on her eyelid which was difficult to remove, I had to hold her and hubby removed it.   We treat them both with Advantix too but it doesn't seem to have been so effective this year or maybe the ticks are just getting immune to it.

Our vet told us it has been the worst year ever for those little nasties.. How I hate them. Our front yard was infested with them.. had to have them professionally 'removed'. Thanks for the suggestions...

I only found two  on Sofia even after her monthly treatment.. I held a cotton ball saturated with flea and tick spray to the icky body and it fell off.
