hi all;  Monty our 'little' 9 months old  Dobie has got some dry patches under his chin and a few on his top lip; they look like scabs and they tend to bleed a bit; does anyone know what they are, what I can do with them? If anything; I clean them up and they dont seem to bother him at all.  Thank you for any help and advice.

Are you using stainless steel feeding and water bowls?

What are you feeding him? Hoping it's grain free.. could be allergies..

Both food and water are plastic bowls and here in the uk we feed Monty on eukanuba puppy dried chicken food, it's supposed to be one of the best ?? I do wonder if it's because he is constantly 'in to' everything and he has just scratched it, it never gets chance to heal before he gets his nose in again?!!

Lady Kate is right - if it's not the food, it could be the plastic bowls. That sounds like a contact allergy to the plastic - I too would switch to stainless steel bowls.

Try switching to stainless steel and a grain free kibble.. sometimes our kids are allergic to corn and break out in adolescent pimples...

When you do switch Monty's food.. take a while ( up to a week) to transition.. upsets are common when switching.

Thank you all for your help !  I have changed his bowls to stainless steel and will let you know how he gets on.......... Your help means so much; thanks again x

Like others have said, use stainless steel bowls and wash them well. After eating, wash off your boys chin. When I've had this issue, I've just used a papertowel with a little soap to wash off the chin, and sometimes an antiseptic pad. That usually clears it up pretty quick.

Thank you all so so much!! Montys chin and mouth is so much better, and it's only been a few days since we changed to stainless steel bowls!!  I cannot believe how the bowls would make such a difference !  Thanks again x
