Rimadyl and Tramadol

Paris has been on Rimadyl almost three months. She seems to have aged and slowed greatly in that time, and had pain bad enough to cry out and stay in one place all night recently. She never did that before the Rimadyl. Has anyone used it and found it caused more problems that it helped? Vet didn't find anything wrong with her, we will have x rays done soon. We got Tramadol for her, so if something seems to hurt her badly, we can give it to her until we can get to the vet. But the Tramadol makes her very whiny and agitated, she clearly hates it. So that will be for emergencies only. Her behavior changed right after we lost Dobie, and I am afraid I mistook sadness and grief for an actual physical ailment and have been medicating her unnecessarily and causing more harm to her. Any advice would be a great help to us.

Also, all of her blood work was excellent, everything is functioning perfectly.  And she was taking msm, but it seemed to make her gassy, so we stopped.

Nope, not just grief. She has calcification on her spine that is causing her discomfort. I did not give her Rimadyl one night and yelped when she got up the next morning, so it looks like she will have to take it from now on, with Tramadol anytime she says she hurts. Glad she is free of any hip issues of bone tumors, but I hate that the isn't anything we can do to remedy this for her.

I haven't heard of that one. I'll call the vet and ask them if that would be a better option for her. Thanks!
