Question about shivering

Hi everyone,

Long time no see! I hope someone can help me with something I'm worrying about! Last night, we were in bed with Stryker and he started to shiver or tremble. It lasted about 30-60 seconds, and he didn't seem to be distressed while it was happening. There were fireworks going off, so I thought maybe he was just afraid of those. But then today, he did it again this evening for about 30 seconds. Today, there were no fireworks going off. Does anyone know what this could be? I called my vet and left a message, but they won't be back until tomorrow.

He doesn't have any other symptoms (normal eating, drinking and pooping, normal high energy). I was googling possible causes (bad idea!) and didn't really see anything that fits. Someone mentioned mini strokes, but my old golden had those and these are different. Stryker is alert and normal when it happens, it is just his skin that shivers. I also saw distemper

Only a good exam by a vet can tell you exactly what caused the shivering.  Hope it's nothing to worry about.  Please update when you find out what's going on.

Thanks for the reply, DJ's dad! I just wanted to update... I called my vet and she asked me a bunch of questions, but she said that, since it was 4th of July weekend, this sort of thing wasn't uncommon.  She said that the second time he shivered, it could have been him hearing the fireworks but me being unable to, or him having a kind of doggy flashback.  She told me to let her know if the shivering came back, but if not, not to worry too much.  I'm happy to say that since 4th of July weekend, he hasn't shivered at all!

(It's weird, because he ABSOLUTELY is not afraid of thunderstorms or natural loud noises... it's just the fireworks he doesn't like. And we have some neighbors who set them off basically right over our heads, so that is a lot to deal with!)
