I just found a post on FB from a friend who has an adult Rottie that was vaccinated with this "new parvo vaccine" as she put it, but now has parvo. What's this about a new strain of parvo that she mentioned? Has anyone heard of this?

Shaun,

Thank you for the heads up.. Parvo can be a devastating disease and although I've not heard of a new strain, I will certainly be on the look out for any information. ( Just watched a special on the SUPER BUGS so with humans?? why not our dogs???)

Would love to see pictures of your family ESPECIALLY Dana the Doberman service dog ( ret) and Ava the Doberman SDIT.

I have heard a little bit about it...supposed to be called Parvo C2 or something like that.  Able to affect young or old canines, and is very quick to make them very sick, or even cause death.

I need to read up on it.  My dogs are all due for their rabies & DHPP+C shots in a week or so, and I want to make sure they are protected.

in one of my dog training classes I take the instructor had us show the bite ourselves saying there was a very bad strain of parvo going around. I will have to ask a few more questions and talk to my vet regarding this. Thanks for the heads up

OK, just a couple things. This is NOT parvo C2. C2 was discovered in the summer of 2008, and was estimated then to have been in existence for about 7 years at the time, so our dogs were then and are now being vaccinated for it. This is something new(er). The woman who's Rottie has it runs a grooming salon, and also trains dogs, so there is a good possibility that her dog got it because of all the contact she has with other dogs, but I do have a dog in puppy classes, so that is why I am worried. As far as contacting it from the ground outside, it is TWO degrees right now in Chicago where we are, so if this strain is similar to typical parvo, it should be dormant here.

Now, there have been a couple ppl who have asked about pix of my girls, and we do have a photo album on this website. I do need to andf will add some stuff now, so take a look.

   Have a great day,
