I'm new to this forum so apologies if I'm posting in the wrong section. I'm having problems with my girl's ears. They have gone all scabby on the ends. They look like little round scabs but are really hard and I know she must be in pain with them. I've had her to the vets and they've given me various things which haven't worked. Apparently the problem she has is common in pointers and other hunting dogs and comes when their ears are constantly on the floor. I've tried sudacream to try and soothe it but I'm afraid I may be doing more harm than good. Can anyone help me please ???

Are they not cropped ? If not does she tromp through bushes ? Would you be able to get a pic?

Having not seen it and no idea what's causing it I would certainly advise following your vet's recommendation....

That being said, I LOVE Well Horse and Vetericyn. This sounds like something that I would use Well Horse on. The stuff has worked so many miracles for me with June I am never without it anymore, from his botched tail docking that hadn't healed to his terrible ear wound that I still have no idea what happened, and pretty much every kind of bump and scrape in between. His vet wanted to re-dock his tail when I got him at 15 weeks and it kept reopening, but the Well Horse healed it up in a week under supervision from another vet who opposed the re-dock. With his ear he was on antibiotics for a month and the vet had said that his ear would probably always be curled underneath from the skin healing to cover such a large wound, but it looks just like the other ear from the outside now (still a large scar underneath).

Again, definitely listen to your veterinarian, but this stuff might be worth the minor investment since it is great to have around anyway.

Good luck!

My boy Jeter had something simlar some time back.

He got in contact with with a weed he was alergic to.

His ears became red and inflamed which caused him to constantly shake his head.

This was causing hematomas, small lumps started to form in the ears.

He was given steriods to reduce the swelling and deal with the reaction.

It worked quickly.

Any damage to ears I use tea tree cream, its a natural antiseptic and keeps flies away.

Hope this helps

Try corona they use it on horses. It's a good antibiotic.

Sorta looks like an allergic reaction to something... Was she romping around outside ? Has anything changed food wise or at home ? Does her kibble have chicken in it ?

Sorry I know lots of questions have you tried Benadryl to see if that would do anything ? Then you would know if it was a allergic reaction reaction. Ares got bit by sand fleas awhile back and the inside of his leg was all bumped up and red so I put cortisone cream and it was gone in a day. In this case I'd probably head to the vet :/
