I know this is probably a very generic question but want some of your opinions on a feeding schedule.

I fed Taegan four times a day up until about 1 month or month and half ago. Now I feed her 3 times a day. At what age would it be appropriate to feed her twice a day? It has been years since I have had a youngster and at my age I forget sometimes what I use to do. LOL

Thanks

Every dog is different my boy didn't want his lunch around 6 months old so we stopped giving him lunch and gave him a snack instead. I say fees three times till they don't want lunch anymore or if they are getting on the hefty side :)

Hey B&R i was feeding my dobes 2 times a day 4 to 6 cups that was about 4 cups more than the dog food company recomended but they looked like they wernt getting enough because there stomach aeras where caved in a little. well after reading the content of the food (Pedagree) i was shocked to see there was almost nothing healthy in it. so we upgreaded big time to a organic diet and now only have to feed them 2 cups a day (we give them 3) 2 in the morning one around 6pm. and wow what a difrence a healthy diet makes. they filled out, shinny coats, cleaner teeth, more active, and way less eye boogers.  and the list goes on.

all of that to say look at the quilty of your food and learn what the meaning of Meat bi product means. its nasty trust me.

yep it cost 3 times as much but the health issues are worth it.but you can add stuff that is good for them fresh also. once a week they get either fresh beef or chicken and other stuff we get on the almost out of date rack the the grocery store.

my boy radar is 90lbs+ and growing and star is about 65 they did gained weight when i switched now they have stayed about the same for awhile.

the lesson here is the healther the food the less you have to feed them.

Thanks Radar and Star, actually I feed a good quality kibble and my girl is very healthy and shiney. So it wasn't a question on what to feed but if I could go down to 2 times a day versus 3. I think I will hold off at least another month maybe even 2 before I take the noon time feeding away. She is now 4 months old.

Eye boogers?  Enzo has them - wiping them off everyday, at least a couple of times a day.  Thought this was related to some kind of allergy - ?  How is it related to diet?  We feed our Whole Earth (?) along with an occasional egg (in the morning) and beef, carrots or sweet potatoes mixed in in the evening.  2 cups of the dog food each time with the mix-ins including vitamins and 2 different pills from the doc (a 'natural' vet -we really like him!).

For awhile as adult dogs, I fed my dogs 2 times a day. However, I was having problems with one of them not wanting to eat in the mornings. If he didn't eat, he would end up throwing up stomach acid shortly after refusing to eat. My vet told me that some dogs stomachs empty faster than others and can be an issue in the mornings especially. Now I feed them in the morning and I split their evening meal so that they get a third of that meal right before they go to bed. I had tried a snack first but it didnt make a difference in the am. So one dog would be fine with every 12 hours but the other needs a different schedule. You probably have already switched but I would just see how it goes on 2 times a day and adjust from there. Side note, I like whole earth farms, they eat nutrisca now but whole earth farms is in our rotation.
