Hi All,

Just almost the same as last Christmas, Bella has taken ill with a liking for not eating, vomiting and sleeping a lot.

On Friday, 3 days ago she was fine, but Sat a.m. she woke up puking bilious yellow foamy stuff, she did that 8 times during the day, and wouldn't eat. Then Sunday she laid around all day, was offered regular food, rice, egg, chicken, and dog food. She only ate and processed about 1T of yogurt and 2T of canned dog food and 3 slices of turkey, then last night Mon 2a.m. she made a big puke.

Now I think the culprit is a small piece of steak /grisle that I gave her as table scrap. The fat made her stomach overreact.

Today we took her to the vet and they did blood tests and exrays, results: no pancreatitis, no obstruction, and we got 3 different pills famotidine, metronidazole, and cerenia... and some shots, they also did a poop test.

Just thought to let you know,

Hope she gets hungry soon, rice and chicken are waiting

xxxx that girl, miss our hikes

Poor Bella =(

Glad to hear that there is nothing "wrong" (I don't mean to trivialize her illness by any means).

You and Bella will be in my prayers. I hope she feels better soon.

Aww, so sorry to hear she is sick.  I have a rat terrier that has a very sensative stomach, and she goes through similar symptoms occassionally.  Almost anytime she eats something with excessive fats, she gets that way.  My vet says she most likely has colitis, so I have to try to watch closely and make sure she doesnt get into things that will make her sick.  Hope Bella is back on track soon.

Sorry to hear Bellas off her tucker, but thankfully its not anywhere near as serious as it could have been. I hope she gets back to her favorite grub soon.

Cheers

Poor Bella, Abby is having sympathy symptoms.

Remember dogs know what to do, if she needs rest and light meals just stick with that for a little while. Turkey and eggs might be too much protein for a sick puppies tummy.

Hope she is well soon.

Awh poor Bella. Hope she feels better soon and can get some grub into her tummy.

We went through the same thing with Rosco a couple months ago. Hate watching them sick, would be so much easier if they could talk.

Keep us updated on her.

Sorry to hear this about Bella wishing her a speedy recovery.

Edit- just been reading on another dobie site; slippery elm is a good natural supplement for tummy troubles in dogs if you can get hold of it.

Oh no.. it's such a worry when they don't feel well.. BOTH our fur girls are uber sensitive especially with anything fatty. They even reject oils.. ( coconut and Omega 3's)

Sending healing thoughts and of course prayers for your sweet girl.

Thank You for all your kind Comments.

Bella is feeling much better and I am going to go play with her now. She has been very patient and even ate some food and her pills.

oh lord my sympathies I have this problem with mine all the time, they are on the blandest diet known to dog and man but still if they get one tiny tiny taste of cat food they will do this, I then have to give a bit of raw organic pumpkin and pump them full of probiotics

It's horrible to see and hear I do hope she is feeling better and better every day, and no more scraps I guess - if she gets really upset she can write to Pepe and Sampson they will totally understand and send her condolences

more info...

older and wiser....

After $669.00 in vet bills I hope the 3rd time if it ever comes I will know well enough to use more yogurt, pumpkin and Pepcid right away. update: (We will get 333.00 back from Trupanion.)

Does anybody know how much pepcid to give a 75 pound dog? Actually I can answer that myself because the "Famitodine" for $18.50 from our vet is the same as human Pepcid at 10mg and she gets 2 once a day.

Bella really is a lot better although her tug is not as strong. I think we will go for a little romp tomorrow, just not off leash.

Thanks for the Slippery Elm tip. Are you certain it is ok for doggies? It is usually available in Whole Foods type places in a yellow box.

Also I think the culprit last Christmas was also a piece of cooked beef fat that someone at Mom's house fed to her .... its funny she eats raw beef fat all the time off her raw beef back bones, no problemo

Hope she better soon ! X

My Scarlett fell ill awhile back and I brought her back to life by mixing yogurt, babyfood, and a splash of Pedialite.  I also rubbed her gums with honey.  After about 3 days, she was back to normal.  Probably just ate something bad.  They have a great nose on them and can sniff out anything!  Glad Bella is better!

Now it is my turn to be flat on my back with a bad stomach flu.

Bella is a very kind and patient nursemaid. She is all back to normal now.

Thanks for all your kind wishes;-)
