Dobie has had his dew claws removed, but now one of them seems to be sort of coming back! Is this possible? There has been no sign of anything there until now, the scar is flat & smooth. I am starting to think I have a genetically altered mutant Doberman on my hands, like in the movie Cujo! But should I be having this claw re-removed, or letting it go to see if it is actually a new dew claw? It seems to be pointing at an odd angle, too.

It very well could be it is growing back. Many times breeders will take these off themselves ( I could never do it grosses me out) and they don't now what they are doing and many times they will grow back. If you have a question I would ask your vet about it.

It is re-growing, & it's backwards! That seems to be a good thing, though, as he can't catch it on stuff nearly as easily this way. Gonna have it removed when he goes to be neutered.

A puppy that we produced grew back one of his dew claws.  It can and does happen if they don't get it all.  The puppy's new home was some distance from ours.  I informed my vet who had done the procedure.  The new owners had it removed again at their own vet's, and my vet paid their vet for the procedure.  It may be worth your while to contact your breeder to get in touch with the vet who did it.  Perhaps there could be a similar arrangement.

that would be great, but Dobie doesn't have a breeder. Or even a anyone tha I could ask about the 1st removal. If he did, I would likely do something very mean to them for being horrible bastards, treating him the way they did!
