DJ (Destiny Jane--sort of like Calamity Jane) is our newest family member, just 10.5 weeks old as of today 1-26-12.  She was purchased by a young couple in Indianapolis from the same breeder in Illinois that my Ziva (now 2 yrs & 4 months old) is from, and in fact, Ziva and DJ have the same mother, which makes them legitimate half-sisters.  The young couple have a 2-yr old toddler, and the day after they brought the puppy home, the lady found out that she was pregnant again---this time with twins.  Her dr told her that she was at 'high risk' with this pregnancy and to try to keep stress to a minimum....so she decided that she desperately needed to rehome the puppy.  She offered her to me several days ago, and I turned her down, thinking that I already have a full house of various dogs, and really didnt have the extra money to buy another pure bred doberman.  She contacted me a few days later, saying that she was going to list the puppy on Craigslist to try to rehome her.  That made me do some serious thinking and praying about the situation.....I couldnt stand the thought of that little puppy going who-knows-where to possibly be used as a fighting dog, or worse---bait for a fighting dog.  She later told me that she tried three different times to list the pup on Craigslist, and all three times, her postings didnt publish or were rejected for some reason.  So she asked me a third time if I would be interested in taking her and she dropped her asking price to less than half of what she paid for the dog originally.  It seemed like destiny that this dog was supposed to be mine.  So I said, Yes, I'll take her.  And I haven't regretted that decision.   My dogs all respect each other and me and my family, and I truly believe that's what makes everything work so smooth in our household.  So DJ is going to grow up and be Ziva's team mate, it would seem.  I feel sure that I made the right decision.
