Well, she got me actually!  We played outside for a while, she is just the cutest lil pup!  I don't know if the shelter taught her how to walk on lead, but within 5 minutes she was doing great.  every time she walked in the right spot it was like she knew it, and looked to me for some loving approval.

Now that we're getting to nite time, I have a question about the crate.  She doesn't really wanna go in there, and I don't wanna just shove her in, if that's not good.  So how should I go about getting her in her crate?

LOL, gently push her in the kennel. No magical secret to it. She will mostly likely adjust to it quickly. Sage was introduced to a crate [kennel] as a very young puppy before I ever layed my eyes on him. We eventually upgraded to the wire kennel. He is now 20 months old and sleeps in his kennel every night right beside my bed.

thanks!  I figured it was that easy, but wanted to double check beforehand.  crossed my mind that with all the reading and research i've done, i've never come across anything about actually getting them IN the crate lol.

How is your Dobe liking the crate these days? All is good, I hope. I must say, it is a pleasure reading about your obedient training experiences with your Dobe puppy. IMHO, our Dobes do best (are more content) when they have learned to do assigned task. These guys are not meant to be watered, fed, then left out in the backyard bored out of it's mind.

Soldier, she doesn't mind the crate, and goes in pretty willingly when I tell her it's bedtime.  She messed in it once, which was my fault because I didn't have the divider in.  I had a big cardboard box, which she pushed to the side and it made the crate way too big. Other than that, no problems, she's not a whiner, she has been so tuckered out that she pretty much goes in and just plops down and falls asleep.

And thanks for your comment, it's been a very good experience so far.  Everyone with dogs keeps telling me to wait, because she's going to get out of control and stop listening.  Too early to tell if that's true, or if others just don't spend enough time with their dogs and do the proper training, so time will tell.

Use some yummy treats or a great toy to get her in her crate. Also sweet talking helps!

We give him a treat as we close the door every time so when he knows we are leaving he's already sitting in there waiting for it..:)
