Hello! Should I expect difficulty with loose leash walking with a 14 week old doberman puppy? He is very stubborn. The trainer suggested a pronged collar but I thought he was too young. Tried a harness but he pulls harder.

I am no expert, but judging by my two, answer is a resounding YES.  You just have to keep trying, and yes they are very stubborn in the beginning.  At 14 weeks short walks are the best, and the stop walking till they quit pulling is the way to go.  Doesn't make for great walks, but they get the gist of it pretty quickly.  Just try to make the walks FUN, when they are really not cooperating end the walk.  Yes, he is too young for the prong collar, I did not start them till 6 months, and you have to remember the prong is only used when walking or working with them.  My two see me getting the prongs out, and you should see the attitude adjustments happen, for they know they are going to do something fun with Mom.  Good Luck with your new baby, enjoy him for they do not stay little babies for very long.

Thanks for the response. It's been kind of frustrating lately. He responds to the basics like sit, stay, and come, which I think is a good start for a 3 1/2 month old. The walks are just frustrating right now. I dont want him to hurt himself by pulling too hard. Thats why we switched to the harness but he can pull the harness harder, only its safer for him. I guess the take home message is keep trying, be patient, try to stay calm, and eventually he'll get it, right?

You last line hit the nail on the head.  My boy got the stop pulling pretty quick.  Female is another story, I tried all, harness was actually the worse, her pulling did not stop till the prong went on, and that was very recent.  She is such a cutie, that she gets away with MURDER before I realize she is playing me.

I feel you pain with the fustration.
