What's the best way to train a dobbie to pick something up off the floor and give it to you?  This could be a big help to me and I know she is smart enough to learn but not sure how to do it.

Wow! That was amazing!  That is what I need to teach Raven she is 15 months old and if something is on the floor I can point and she will sniff it but don't know how to make her give it to me.  I would love to know exactly how you can do this.  Thanks.

Thanks for the tips.  I will try it this weekend.  What state do you live in? We live in Alabama.

Well I was ready to send her to you for training. lol!  My email kellyrichardson@asmauburn.com at work.  Don't have one for home yet.  I really hope I can train Raven like you have yours.  She still like to play a lot and so I know this will be a big job.

I'm an Auburn fan but I'm glad Alabama won!!!!

I will do that and use some treats to help.  She will do anything for a treat.

Oh, I am missing something.  Where are the tips for training posted?  Others might want to know.

For those of you that contacted me directly...
I removed all techniques, tips, and most certainly my YouTube video that I posted because as Lady Kate pointed out to me,
"This forum is for suggestions and stories to brighten our days and give us a smile or two. Not to sell our training techniques."
I did not know those to be the rules so I guess showing off my Bane's talents went over the line. And since I am starting a business for in-house assistance training, I guess it was advertising despite not expecting any potential clients coming from a global forum.
Sorry for the infractions.

I certainly did not take any offense from the videos. You may want to check with Alpha Admin, but on many forums it is OK to post a simple blurb about what you are offering in your signature block. Most of us do not use signature blocks here, but it is available in your profile.

Many know that I am a Member Moderator on a computer information forum (not here) and there many have signature blocks. Mine is of my background, some are informative about their interests and some about their computer certifications. Since many of the members there are very into computers, some of the signatures are animated and very interesting.

Thanx for the offer, but I guess...
I'll just post to the other forums I member at if I have an intelligent thought. I don't need either the grief or the slamming. Besides, as I said, I certainly wouldn't think that I could/would get any work from this global forum.
Anyways, I'm still confused over how things went so fast from,

I'm sorry for starting topic if it has caused you grief.  Maybe someone is just jealous.  I thought the tips were great!! and so was the video.  I showed it to my husband and he was very impressed.  I tried working with Raven some this past weekend and I did like you suggested by putting the remote in her mouth or point to something on the floor but right now she's like that's nothing I can eat so she has nothing to do with it.  I will keep trying.  Thanks for your help!

Not to worry. Just try something that does incite her interest such as a rag. Keep it a tool tho, not a toy. Do the same as if it's the remote.

As somebody else already informed you...lady Kate was defending your put down of another boarder. I don't see any confusion there at all..nothing to do with jealousy.
I would just build a bridge and get over it personally,  :)My thoughts are that tips and differing points of view are always welcome. we are all human at the end of the day and we all interpret things differently.

she has no interest in the remote so she don't even want to touch it.  Her attention span isn't very long maybe I will try a rag tonight or what about a zip lock bag with treats in it.  She will be interested in that.

Oh dear Todax.. I am so sorry if I hurt your feelings.. no malice was intended.. Please accept my sincere apologies and best of luck with your training techniques. I think your dog has incredible talent and you have capitalized on it and just wanted to share what CAN be done with such intelligent animals. Pax

Great idea with the baggie of treats Kelly. Just have her bring it to you, open it and give her one, and close it back up to do again. Now that's being in touch with your kid. I was going to suggest a new tennis ball or like toy. Just claim it as yours tho and don't let her play with it, just bring it to you. From there, transfer it to real "tools" for rewards. Remember, dobegirls thrive on love and affection.

Thanks for your help.  I will work with her and see if I can do it.  You're right about the love and affection part.  I swear she thinks she's a lap dog and is very touchy feely all the time.  How long did you spend with Bane training him per day?

10-15 minutes a day, sometimes twice a day.
