Anyone hear of these breeders?
Thunderstormdobermans.com
Anjelicdobes.com
I have contacted both of them. Both just by e-mail for now. Those are the 2 locals who are worth anything IMO but heck, what do I know LOL that's why I asked here if anyone had heard of them. By local I mean 2 or 3 hours away : ) There is a breeder that's in the next town over from me BUT they advertise having a "Kimbertal" stud. I don't know much but the info I have gathered on that kennel hasn't been good. Idk, I'm still looking and I'm not in a rush. People make bad decisions and poor judgements when they are in a hurry. Taking it 1 day at a time.
Thanks : )
LOL - I like Anjelicdobes.com from their website. I looks like they stole our old puppy application. They also seem focused on health and temperament.
I don't like how Thunderstormdobermans.com has right in their header something about superior size and bone structure. You don't want an oversize Doberman regardless of how "superior" they are trying to get the bone structure of such dogs.
These guys are in Indiana. We're in south east Michigan and just had a small litter. [url=http://www.gentledoberman.com/forum]http://www.gentledoberman.com/forum]
I agree. Anjelicdobes seems to have the right motives. It would appear that Thunderstorm Dobermans has more of a Shutzhund motive behind their lines. All of the pictures seem to be of the aggressive native, which would lead me to wonder a bit about their temperament. I currently have an oversized Dobe I got from a local home breeder, and I knew he would be large from the size of the Sire and Dam. Fortunately, he has a very sweet temperament, and only attacks with his tongue.
Yesterday, I picked him up from boarding at the vets after being away for the weekend. While waiting to see the vet a young couple came in with a very sweet 4 month old female Pit Bull. She was very affectionate, and we were talking dogs. After I paid my bill, I went outside to wait by the car and instead of bringing Red out the side door, they brought him through the waiting area. The young couple were amazed by his size and came out to talk to me and pet Red. They were amazed at his friendliness.
All that being said, my next Dobe will definitely be of a standard size. Red will be six in March, and has had a bout with malignant skin cancer on his tail, so I am taking every day with him as a gift. I am paying attention to the breeders who post here, and I am more concerned with their discussions than I am with their websites. One other thing I saw missing from the Thunderstorm Doberman site that was present on the Anjelicdobes site was the reference and link to DPCA. While I am not a member, to me it is an indication of a committed breeder who is interested in the breed for the right reasons.
Those new to owning Dobes, and I have owned them for almost 25 years, and have raised an occasional litter when I had good Sires and Dams, when I got my first, the Dobe had a place in the public mind not unlike a Pit Bull does today. They have now have the Bad Dog image, but a few more breeders like Thunderstorm and the Dobe may suffer from improper perception in the public mind again.
I don't think Thunderstorm Dobermans breed out of standard, large dogs. If you read the info about the dogs, it states the height and weight of them. Most of them are champions or on their way to be champions and you can't show dogs, none the less champion dogs out of standard. I assume when they say superior bone and musscle structure they are talking about a more square/blocky structure, not the longer greyhound look of the more "American dobes". It also says how sweet tempered their dogs are. Maybe they have their image come across intimtating and they have the "bad boy" theme going on but I personally don't think they are doing anything wrong as breeders. If you read about each dog, it also gives all the health testing and the results of such tests. I also don't think that a bad breeder or someone who isn't trying to better the breed would take the time or the money to take their dogs to The very town that the Doberman was created in Germany. That's just my opinion though. I like both breeders, although I have not made the decision yet on where I will actually get my puppy from. It might not be from either of them. I will not even be ready for a puppy until the Spring so I still have time to look. I am willing to wait longer if need be to get the right pup for me and my family. I did ask for your opinion though and I thank you for giving it to me.

Sorry I have not heard of these breeders (but that doesn't mean anything)
I had to comment though... I checked out the sight and WOW these two are on opposite ends of the spectrum... ;D One all bad boy image and the other all angelic...
Have you contacted either of them? I feel like I called or emailed a hundred breeders when I started my search... One thing I do hate about puppy searching online is just because it may be the best looking website it does not mean that they breed the best dogs.. Good Luck... :D
