I just had a proud Dobie mama moment yesterday and I just had to share.  My slightly slimmer Soleil  ;) attended a family gathering yesterday and got to interact with some young children.  I don't have kids so this doesn't happen often.  She sees children and has greeted them on a leash during a walk but not really off leash.  There was a 4 year old and a 6 month old... both girls.  My Soleil was very gentle (well gentle for her) around them.  I wish i had my camera.  The 6 month old was in her little chair on the ground and her mom was right next to her and I was near by.  Soleil came to investigate.  I gave her the "gentle" command.  She walked over and sniffed the baby and gave her a HUGE kiss across the top of her head.  Baby thought this was great and started giggling and Soleil gave her some more gentle kisses and then planted her wagging body at the the baby's feet.  She was unbelievably gentle with the kids!  :D

Must have just filled your heart watching your sunshine girl shine with the wee one. I think it's instinctive for these wonderful doberdogs to sense a little one and react in a maternal way. I've been amazed at Sofia's interaction with children.
Thanks for sharing!

That's just wonderful!  It's always good to hear when our doberkids behave because they are a true testament to what a loving, and loyal breed they are!!! ;D

I just read your comment, had to comment myself, because that is so sweet! I love stories like this.  I have seen this breed be so amazing with children and love to hear how sweet they can be.  My own girl did a sweet thing.  My 9 year old neice and my daughter were playing in the yard, and my neice, Taylor, tripped and fell on a tree root and she was sitting down crying, and Greta went over to her and put her paws over her legs and was nudging her very gently while she was crying, and she just stayed there next to her.  I brought Taylor in and put her on the couch and Greta got on the couch next to her, put her head in her lap and continued to try to comfort her. It was the sweetest thing! I told her what a good girl she was and she of course just ate that up and was wagging and all proud of herself.  Sorry to ramble on, just had to share my own sweet doberman moment, because I just love to hear about these wonderful creatures!  :)

OOps sorry/// I just read your post on another thread.. Greta is two.. How amazing that she's so maternal at such a tender ( still puppy) age.
Am so happy to hear you're working with rescues.. Our DoberDiva is a rescue as well. Great job with Greta!!
