My partner is a K-9 handler and yesterday his 6 year old Dutch Shepard named "Kim" passed away unexpectedly. A month ago they were in Ohio accepting the Top Team in North America award from the American Canine Officer Association. Kim is credited with alerting to the biggest Cocaine seizures of our Department and one of the biggest on the east coast which was 106 kilos, or about a 10 million dollar street value on one traffic stop. She is a great loss to our agency, our team, and especially her handler and his family. Please take a moment and remember them over the next few days. She not only was a Law Enforcement Officer but she was a partner, a best friend to her handler, and a sweet girl to me and my other team mates. She will be sorely missed.
