The prayers and positive thoughts worked!!!
My father in law was released from hospital today after only 5 nights in the ICU!!
This is a huge blessing as he has not slept at all while in the hospital, being in the ICU there are always equipment alarms going off at all times of the day and night so just as he was able to get comfortable and fall asleep he was woken up 10 minutes later.
He was able to do 5 laps of the ICU unassisted, as well as walk the hallway that goes the entire length of the hospital and back, also unassisted this morning so the doctor felt that it would be more beneficial for him to be at home, in his own bed and in his own surroundings for the remainder of his recovery.
Thank you so much to everyone for all the positive vibes and prayers, they were listened to!!
His next surgery is going to be a lot more intense, they will be removing half of his right lung to get rid of the cancer that is in there. We don't have a surgery date yet for him, but it should be in the next 4-5 weeks!
Oh, thank God! Glad he's up and good! :D
Glad to hear it's all going well so far. Best of luck to him on the rest too...
That's great news! Being at home will take some of the stress off for him...and for you and the family. He must be so excited to be going home :) Will he be getting some kind of home care? Keep us updated with his next surgery too please, it sounds like it's gonna be pretty intense. Someone is obviously looking out for him though!
Sir Phin... Thank you so much for this heart-gladdening report... I used to work for a Pulmonologist and believe me.. lung resections are extremely successful.. It's amazing what these docs can do! What's even more amazing, is the power of prayer.. and there's a LOT of folks here who have your back..
Sir Phin, I'm so happy to hear that things are going well! I'm in the medical feild and have had more family experience with these sorts of things than anyone should. I can tell you that family support is absolutely HUGE in determining outcomes. The ICU is a tough place for people to be, and this recent victory helps immensely! My thoughts and prayers will stay with you and your family. I wish you al the best!

Oh I am so glad to hear he is walking! Now, if he can get some sleep and get rested for the next one, he will be on the road to recovery. I'll keep saying my prayers!
