SearchFirst Spam Attack
This morning our new site got its first serious spam attack. We had one spam message a few weeks ago, but this was the first one that splattered 30 identical posts full of hyper links.
Until today my three layers of spam-bot protection have proven effective. I'm suspicious it was a person because I'm about certain a bot wouldn't be able to get through... I tracked the jerk to Fujian China.

I used to run one of the more popular guitar forums, and man, we got nailed sometimes even with everything in place! What a pain, at one point we were having dozens of users sign up an hour (all bots) and post crazy amounts of spam... took several hours a day to clean up. It pretty much stopped when I changed the forum so that nobody could post until I approved them, with a response to see that it was a real person. Was a little bit of a pain for new members, but they understood.
Cool; who knew!?, I thought Alpha was getting deluged with flags and wasn't sure I should. But, I am basking in my fifteen minutes of fame! 
And I'll take the dobie dollas!
