SearchChat Room?

What do you think about creating a chat room? It might be fun to get to know each other as well as the doberkids..?
Thoughts anyone?
I've pondered this before. The focus of this website though is on help people with Doberman problems - or rather helping Dobermans with their people problems. When we add our solutions and advice to the forum, it become searchable, from the website's own search and from search sites like Google, Yahoo, and Bing. For every person we have here asking a question, we have a few hundred people finding advice without asking, because someone already has.
Chat sessions by their nature and function preserve nothing, but are great fun and helpful for certain things.

if not a chat room, what about an "off topic" section where we can all get to know each other outside of the dog world? I can totally see what you mean about the chat though.

I love knowing more about this extended family. We are together with the breedings, the births, the raisings of our dobermans. ( I still think Dobermen sounds better) and then to help grieve the inevitable passings.. what do ya think Webby~~ please~~
Many forums had an off topic area. PC World forums calls theirs "General Talk" (the description says "pull up a chair and hang out for a while!") and the Netgear NAS Forum calls it "The Cabana Forum" (the description says "Lean back, put the sunscreen on, sip on a Mai Tai, and shoot the breeze. No serious discussion allowed here.").
I have the sunscreen, but not the Mai Tai's. No Matter, I can shoot the breeze with the best of them. 
would be pretty cool, a place to talk about anything. I bet lots of us share common interests and we don't even know it! I remember rgreen saying that he was a car enthusiast, me too! (though i've been out of the loop since I bought my house and haven't had extra money to work on the car lol) and I bet there's lots of members that would get to know each other better in that area.
Yeah. K~~ my hubby teaches videography and television production at the University in town.. all kinds of stuff to chat about THERE. ( weddings and street fairs and pups.. oh my!)

I was born in Plainfield.. Moved to CA when I was four. lived there til I migrated to Okalahoma.. scooted down South to Dallas TX... went Souther ( it's a word) to Pensacola Fl
moved to NV to take care of parents for a year... then over to SoCal til two years ago when Mike was offered a professorship at U.A.B.C. and a coaching position to help bring American Football to Baja..

Lady Kate, did I misunderstand you initially? I thought you meant a chat-room as in an IRC room. Since the idea of an Off-Topic forum I added a single forum under the gentledoberman.com category.
Does that fit your fancy?
Actually, I just renamed the "What do you thing?" forum and moved the topics, because people have been confusing it with "Feedback," which is obviously understandable.

I have investigated and joined other forums, and by FAR.. this is the best I've ever seen..
