New AKC Event -Coursing
I get email updates from AKC and I thought this was very interesting. They are just now starting to have "Coursing Ability Tests" (as of Feb 2011) similar to Lure Coursing that sighthounds compete in, but this is open to any AKC dog at least 12 months old. The article also says it's a 'titled' event, and your dog can earn a CA title, and go even further by passing more of these tests. I think this would be so much fun to watch, even if you didnt participate.
Aww snap, I wish I'd known. We're about 65 miles from Calhoun, GA. I would've just like to have checked it out. Speaking of AKC, we want to register Sophie. We have a limited registration with her, since she is going to be spayed. I know we can do this online, could some of y'all explain the different packages, and what you get with them, and also which one do y'all recommend, thanks!

Thanks for posting this news! I did a little lure coursing with my Afghan, Zelda in late 80's. It's a great way to spend a weekend! I think what I enjoyed most was that on the sound of /t/ in "Tally-Ho" which signals the owner's release, the dogs are on their own! It's like a horse race without the jockeys! The excitement comes in part from the dogs competing against or by the side (?) of each other. The grace and beauty of the Afghan! Ahh!
Thanx Again for the heads up:)
That sounds like a lot of fun... and I was wondering if I could get my boy into something like that. Hmmm, Y'all might have some competition comin your way... lolz![]()
