SearchProud, SUPER Proud Mom!!!
I took my kids down to the local gas station to grab some snack for our last minute Movie Night Saturday evening. The car was full with my 8, 10 and 12 yr old and one of their friends. Dexter was curled up on his seat...
So... I park in front of the entrance and let the kids run in to get what they wanted. I told them they only had 5 min. because I was expecting our twin boys to call from Germany that night and I wanted to hurry back to the house.
Well they are kids, and after 15 minutes waiting for them I got out of the car, walked 3 steps into the store door and another 2 steps further till I saw them and could tell them to hurry. That is when I heard Dexter bark in the car like a little mad man!!! As I turn around I see a teen boy (so stupid b/c I know his name and parents) slamming my passenger side door, white like a wall :) I guess he thought it was a good idea to grab my purse that was placed there!!!
Dexter jumped up and barked at him with the voice of a little hero <3 It was dark, my baby was curled up on his seat and the little punk had no idea that we had the new family addition.
Kid had the nerve to yell at me, that I should not keep a vicious, dangerous dog in my car!!!! I told him that he could tell the police about it when they arrive and felt just as proud as I do when my kids get honor roll :) The strap of my purse was still in his hand stuck in the car door. Dexter raging, paws on the window, barking...
I had about 5 witnesses gathered around my car clapping for my little watch dog <3 The police rolled in, did their thing and my kids thought it was the coolest night EVER! The officer almost lost it laughing when I told him that my 13 week old puppy scared off the purse snatcher!
I missed my sons phone call from overseas, but I was not sad about it that night. I was so incredible proud of my 3 month old baby scaring the cr@p out of a little punk! I hope he peed himself at least a little! I know he will as soon as his father gets his hands on him!
I just had to share this with everybody! I think it is incredible that such a young dog already realized that this guy was not suppose to be in our car. Or maybe he was just startled and barked because of that? To me it makes NO DIFFERENCE AT ALL!
I really wish the gas station had a camera that captured that moment lol
Anyways yay go Dexter!! That kid is lucky he was just 13 weeks old, I would imagine a 13 month old Dexter would have made the kid crap his pants!

I wonder how the kids parents felt after they found out there child is a thief. I hope that doberman scared the "sh!!" out of him.
Well, hopefully that teenage kid won't be trying that again and learned his lesson!

I am still on a high from that incident! It is just so sad to see a good kid getting mixed up with the wrong crowd! We live in a tiny town. Suburbs of the Suburbs! Woods and fields around us. This is something that does not happen here!

well... after talking to him and his parents, we decided not to press charges! Turns out that the lil punk was hanging out with the wrong crowd and his parents have taken care of that.
Sad to see a good kid go bad, because of some rats from the big city! He told us about the things he is changing in his life and how sorry he was. Thanks to his parents, coaches, and many others in the community, he wont have time to hang out with his new pals anymore :)
Part of his new 'program' is taking care of our lawn this year... He was going to do it for free, but we decided to pay him. He does not know that we will!
I have to add that we are not talking about a kid from a crappy background, but an honor student who has been involved in sports, scouts and many other great things! He slipped and was dared into doing something stupid!
His Mom told me that he did wet himself a bit!!! He said the dog just appeared out of the dark and seemed so much bigger than he actually is...
I am convinced that Dexter was just startled :)
I'm glad that this child has learned a hard lesson and I think that its great that his parents and others in the community are trying to help him instead of condemning him and labeling him a "bad kid". How surprised he will be when he finds out that he will earn a wage for taking care of your lawn :) Kudos to you for being understanding of the situation and for giving him another chance! There are so many kids who need people to care about them and help them instead of just writing them off. I'm very thankful this story has a happy ending :)
I second the kudos to you Dextersmom! Many people would just write the young man off, you didn't. Who knows, he may become Dexter's new bff!
Keep us informed as to how this goes, I do feel he will become friends with Dexter as long as Dexter doesn't hold a grudge, hahahahaha, I know Ben holds a grudge with those kids who own the yorkie that bit his buddy Goofy and then he died I know he remembers and associates it as such, he goes all to h... when those kids go by, so maybe Dexter will as forgiving as you are, :))

Well, I REALLY did laugh out loud .. and then.. I also had tears in my eyes ... You and Dexter are to be commended for how you (both) handled this situation ! Your LITTLE dobie ALREADY knows how to be a true asset to HIS family he obviously adores... and you know how to help a young man who has made some bad choices ! I betcha, with the help of you ( Dexter ;) and your caring community, he will turn out to be a fine young man ! GREAT story, thx for sharing !
