Hello all!
We've had our Doberman, Elka, for almost two years now (she was born in May '09, got her at 8 weeks), and though in-person I don't know anybody else with a Doberman, I'm more than willing to make online connections. Once I get latched onto a subject (like Dobermans, and dogs, and dog training.....) I tend to read like crazy about it, and try to find other people who like the same thing. I already joined the Doberman Talk forum, but though I would come "over here" as well, because really, I can't talk enough about my dog, or read enough about Dobermans and how they are.

Your Elka is 4 months older than my Ziva. Her birthday is 9-17-09. Can't wait to read more about you and your doberman. Jump in on any topic or start some of your own---and remember, we LOVE pictures.

I belong to DT as well.. but mostly just lurk and look at the pictures.. I like GD much more for all the right reasons..The folks here are passionate about their dogs, loving toward one another and amazingly helpful for even the silliest questions that I seem to come up with.

I've been rather happy with Doberman Talk, but I figured if I could double the DoberExposure, I might as well! This is just how crazy a dog lady I am, I guess. I was checking in to see if anybody paid attention to me (see, I'm honest!) and have to go to work, but I will certainly post Elka pictures later on!

Well, I tried to teach her how to dust...I got one of those microfiber thingies, with the handle, and after she followed me around for awhile, fascinated, I got down on her level and showed her how it worked, and then had her take the handle. The result was much like the second picture there, but with a poufy microfiber duster, rather than a rope toy!

I'm realtivly new here too and joined after I adopted what was SUPPOSED to be a doberman. Only she isn't, she's a cattle-dog/flat-coat/alaskan malamute mutt. Even though Paisley looks and (sort-of) acts like a dobe, she isn't. And even though she isn't, everyone here gives me wonderful advice and friendly comments. I must honestly say that this is one of the most friendly dog forums I'm dealt with. (I also play on dogster).
Elka is a beauty. I'm a little jealous. One day I WILL get my dobe! Lol!
I used to be on dogster... completely forgot about that place....
I've heard of Dogster but haven't ever gone to the site. But now I probably will, and join. You people are enablers!
GingerGunlock - Elka is a beauty and looks like she has a good time with the rope. I would image after her stint with the duster, it (the dust) was everywhere.
Oh yes, the dust was everywhere. I should've shaken it out first! Every toy she has, she wants to play tug with, or she shakes like she needs to break its back so it won't struggle, and she came built that way.
Paisley, it sounds like your almost-dobie has a genetic bag of tricks to draw on. Have you tried herding? Or sledding? Or retrieving? What a different kind of three part trial from Schutzhund that would be!
Welcome!! Everyone here is soo friendly... Skye got ahold of one of those dusters a few weeks ago after I got done with the ceiling fans.... Whoooweeee..... hahaha... we BOTH had a sneezing fit after that one. ;) Your Elka sounds like a sweet girl... and I love the pics!!!
