I may have found a dobie.. I am not sure but Dana thought she may be good for me.. It will be a few weeks until i could go see her.. she is a red girl about 6 years old  Dana said she has great teeth so she is younger than she was told.  there are so many resues...  I got her some toys and I dont even know if she like to play lol so I better stop.. I will have to get a crate she is crate trained .. so it is all a maybe.. I cant wait to see here..

Do you all think a 6 or 7 year old be ok for me to rescue.. Most people want young ones but the truth is I dont know if I could handle a wild child.. lol  I had trouble getting off the sofa today lol

Oh she sounds great!!! age is a state of mind, she may be a very young 6 years old  I know my rottie is a young 8 year old according to the vet and techs I think he moves pretty slow but they don't, I will keep fingers crossed she is what you are looking for and what Levi is looking for :)) You're like me I had a whole list of items to order when I was trying to rescue a collie puppy and then when the group said no I just couldn't bring myself to delete the list until last month, almost 9 months later.......it's fun to get the things they need and things we think they will want....

Dana discribed her as very settled, affectionate, and pleasant company.  Probably a good dobie for an oldie like me... I can train her to walk beside my scotter on our walks.. we have 20 acres plus'her fenced in yard.. she will have her own bed,

As much as I would love a younger dobe there are some days I cant even walk.  So an older dobe might not get bored with being a couch potato with me and Levi.. Levi loves to do his zoomies when he has room to go.. Main thing is to have a nice companion..

It sounds great. But be prepared. This image is intended to be funny, but there is a lot of truth to it to.

A dog that is six is older and more settled, yet still has a good amount of energy. Be prepared, she will follow you everywhere. When I go up to refill my Dr. Pepper mug, I look like the pied piper with two Dobes trailing me into the kitchen and then back. Of course they are worried they might miss something.

A rescue will bond very quickly once they realize they are no longer being shuffled. It will probably take a few days for her to get fully acclimated and settled in, but after that she will own the place.

My male dobie was like velcro.. he would go thru doorways with me like another hip.. it drove Mike nuts.. and whan I sat he was at my feet the same when i was sleeping  I had to always step over him.. My female used to lay her head on my shoulder from the back of the chair.. and I have had like 4 dogs in the bathroom with me and maybe a cat..

Dana said she is alert and confident.. she wanders around the exersice yard and goes in for a nap in her crate.  she is people oriented and may have never played with other dogs.  she will do well with a person of her own..  I hate when people try to do their own ears then has to put them short..

My sister in law had a dog like that but he was a great dog.  I feel like screaming leve their ears alond the look great with natural ears..  and It must hurt the poor dog..

I truely believe it does hurt when doing a home job, because nobody knows if its done in a humane way. She is beautiful regardless and deserves a great home. Hopefully all goes well with your adoption of her. I love the pic rgreen put up because it holds so much truth, they aren't called velcro for nothing. There are many home activities you will never do alone again which is why I believe this breed makes for a great dog.

Bet...

This girl needs you.

What a lovely lady. She has all the potential of being the sweetest companion you could ever ask for.

Sofia has a low thyroid.. two pills a day, and guess what? No problems.. ( Think about adding a little fish oil to her meals.. and BTW.. we do THREE smaller meals a day to help with the metabolism)

Good luck, looks like a wonderful match to me

Well I may be moving sooner that means I can get Missy sooner.. I am going to send her pictures of where we will be so she can see the fence etc.. then I can go up to see Missy and if we all hit it off Ican take her home after signing a contract..   sooo much more packing and moving... glad I am not down there right now it is so very hot.. but Mike got a great AC they put in the wall..

I have my second sleep test at the hospital.. I have hopes with the CPAP machine I will do better.  some tell me it made a huge difference in how they felt..  I think the lower elevation may also make a difference..

Well I am excited. I put Missy's Picture as my avatar.

I thought i would show you the yard that Missy will have.. the fence is high.. i think a wild child could climb it.. but I dont think Missy or Levi will be doing it.. but I will be watching. lol they will not be left alone and me gone out there..  My nephew took these pictures for me to send to rescue.

Mike said he has a lot of work he wants to do on the yard and fence .. we rent but it has always been a home for us when we were not owning our own home.. Mike has always kept up the place and we get some off the rent..  There is a great what was a barn but now a great shop.. we raised the 2 grand kids here for about 4 years until we went to Wyoming..

good pics. As someone who works for rescue I might suggest that the top of the fence be connected to the top wood rail somehow, zippy ties that lock or wire or something so that the fence doesn't continue to droop down. Just something we would mention to a prospective adopter on a homecheck for a rottie, thought you might want to know ahead of time, :))

I've seen those electrodes they attach for sleep tests and always wondered how anyone could sleep hooked up like that, hahahahaha

Mike is going to redo the fence.. it has been there a long time..  I am not getting a young dobie

and I will not leave her out their alone.. but Mike is going to rework the whole fence replace posts with the medel posts tighten it etc..  I noticed the droop too.. and would worry about it more if I had a younger dog.

thank you for your input I will mention it to Mike.

Yes it was hard to sleep.. mostly I was worried I couldnt  sleep lol but they got enough info and it made a big difference the next day in how I felt.

Thanks  Dana just asked for pictures lol so well if she notices that we will have to fix it..  If i was ging a pup or wild child it would be a worry but I dont think Missy will be climibng the fence if she does Dana will tell me.. but I see your concern and I thank you.. Mike said the fence needs a whole going over he mentioned that first off.  I would not leave them out there with out me and I know Levi will not stay out there after he does his zoomies around the yard.. They will want to be with me in or out..  I will ask Dana if she is a climber..

Oh I hope not a climber, that would worry me to death, I now our chain link is really low in the back only about 3 feet high, I was assured that Ben would never contemplate the other side of the fence but to be on the safe side we actually put up a 6 foot high reed fence, hahahaha, when his foster mom arrived with him she laughed and said if Ben had to lift his feet more than a few inches he would refuse, but she thought it was a great sign that he would be safe here. The reed fence worked as a barrier to back door neighbor too, it has lasted one year now and is showing it's age. It came in 6 foot high by 50 foot in length so it worked out affordable and now that we know Ben is not about to jump any height when it falls down we will leave it down. Not sure why I am rambling on about my fence. Just late I guess so I will go now, hahahahaha

I think if Missy is a climber Dana will let me know.. when my MIL live here she had a little terrier that climbed.. Mike had to an buy her and put up electric fence.. Not to hurt her but enough to bite.. we all got it at one time or another.. she knew when it was on too so it had to be on all the time.. we had to do the same when we had a terrier that was digging under our fence.. Poor Mike what he went thru for out dogs..  we rarely had it on .. Maggie got caught one time and that was it never again.. I will talk to Dana about it..

I personally love the military/working crop... I don't know what it is, but I always have. lol. It doesn't look ragged, but that doesn't mean it's not a home-job, just that they were able to get the line straight and that it healed well. This does not look like a vet did it and if one did, they probably didn't know what they were doing.

Missy is beautiful!  I have a nephew that has a black doberman male, "Snoop", and he asked the vet specifically to crop the ears short, because that's what HE personally thought looked best.  But you know, it doesnt matter how long, short, straight, or crooked ears are--it doesnt change the dog's personality one bit.  Missy looks like a sweetheart, and I am SO happy that you found her.  Cant wait to see pics of her with you!

Well I have moved 3 time in last 2 years.. not big moves but enough to get things lost.  having poodles i have had all kinds of clippers, and brushes.. I gave in and made an appointment for Levi to get groomed.. before I move back to California..

I have been talking to Dana and finding out what she is eating.. i dont care for the food.. so I will

get a grain free food.  I have to get things settled for a couple days after the move before I get Missy.  like get groceries and dog food.  and some things for the house..  My head is spinning.  I dont want to go shopping after I first get her and leave her alone.. and Levi will be strange there too and he has separation anxiety.. csused by a 10 hour plane trip he came out of his crate and clung to me his new mommy. so i want to have most what I need before I get her.

We wanted the "Guard Dog" cut used on Doberman's in the early 1900's, we do not like the "Bat Wing" cut that everyone else likes.  No offense to anyone, but the shorter cut was our preference.  Please see below a picture of Shelbi (right) and a picture from 1909 (left) and a painting from 1915 (middle)  This is the original cut for Dobermans, over time people have prefered them longer, but it is all in ones preference.
