This is Zipper.  She is my new baby.  Didn't think I could have another doberman after DJ, but I just couldn't live without one.  I brought her home from the breeder mid-February when she was 8 weeks old.  She is helping to fill the empty hole in my life.  Zipper is 3 1/2 months old now, and I am still posting her ears for 4 days, then take down for an hour or so, and back into posts at least till she is done with teething, which she has been losing baby teeth pretty much all this week.  She's a smart little cookie, and since we are on "Stay Home Lockdown" here, I have a lot of time to work with some training with her.  She already knows the commands sit, lie down, go around, and side (which is where she will be sitting facing me, and on command will flip around and be sitting at my left side) Still working on speeding up the 'flip' part of that one. LOL  Anyhow, this is my new dobie baby.

Oh, YAY!!!  I'm so happy for you!!

She's beautiful. And she's so lucky to have landed in such a terrific home. I can't imagine you without a Dobe, either - you are so amazing with your dogs.

Congratulations!

WE ARE SO HAPPY FOR YOU TOO!!!!:))) What a cutie pie! Now we can follow you again and try to have Loki be well trained, although he is older. Like you said it's no socializing right now, so concentrate on training!

She's beautiful. I always liked DJ's crop this one is longer and straighter, more fashionable, no?

What a difference a couple of weeks makes!  Zipper just turned 4 months old a couple of days ago, and she is looking SO grown up already.  I can hardly wait till she is full grown, but at the same time, I already am missing that tiny little cuddle bug.

they grow so freaking fast!! However, their brain is still all puppy - haha!

Well. the PLAN was to super-socialize her as soon as she got all her puppy shots and rabies shot...but then this stupid virus thing made the rounds and we are all in the 'stay at home' mode.  So that shot that plan down.  I have taken her to the outdoor garden section of Walmart, though, and we have been working on things like 'fear of the metal shopping cart' and walking over big plastic bags of mulch etc.  LOL.  On a good note, though, we will be starting a puppy class on Monday next week.  Because of the social distance thing, the class is one-on-one, just the instructor and me and Zipper.  She already knows sit, down, side, and she will do a figure-8 between around and behind my feet and legs (for food, of course).  Ear posting is going very well.  Her ear bases are very strong, so we are just helping the tips now with Breathe Rite strips.

She has big paw prints to fill, but it appears she is up to the task.

Hi DJ's Dad.  I have not been on the forum for many years and was so sad to read about your loss of DJ.  She had the perfect example of what I wanted my Fargo's ears to look like.  I actually printed out her pictures from her galery.  The one of her at "almost 14 months" and the "facinated by butterflys" pictures.  I took them to my vet and he cropped the ears just like DJ's.  My boy is now 7 years old and has the most georgeous ears thanks to DJ.  I look forward to watching your new girl, Zipper grow.

I am enjoying catching up on all the posts.  There is always so much to see and learn.   We have a new pup that was rescued out of a very poor situation.  Against my better judgement, I let my heart over rule my brain and brought him home.  So now, it is what it is and we will give him the love and vet care he needs.

Aw. gee. Fargo's Mom.....that made me feel so good to read your post. I miss DJ so much I can barely stand it.  But this new girl, Zipper, is keeping me pretty occupied so I dont have time to feel sorry for myself.  We're doing weekly puppy classes PLUS weekly puppy play days at a training facility that's about 25 miles down the highway from me.  Zipper missed out on that window of 'socialization' time between the ages of 3 months to 5 months due to this stupid covid BS and my town was pretty much on lockdown/stay at home orders.  Now that we are able to mask up and get out, Zipper is very shy of people and other dogs...other than the dogs that live with her.  Her defense mechanism is to bark and act tough to try to scare other dogs (even small puppies) away from her because SHE is the one that is scared.  If they ignore her barking and come toward her, she runs the other way and cries out, or jumps behind my legs and shakes.  It's pathetic.  We are making tiny little steps forward though and we've been doing this for about 4 weeks now.  She's warming up to strange people much faster than she is to other dogs, but we're still working on that.  I am glad she isn't aggressive towards other dogs, but she just has got to gain some self confidence....which Im pretty sure will come, just slower than I would like to see it happen.    SO..you have a new pupper?  COOL.  I dont get on here too often either, but I do check in occasionally, so I'll be looking for news on your pack.  :)
