Hi everyone,
just thought i'd introduce myself :-)
My name is Carol and i;m the proud owner of 'Boss' (not sure how to insert photo's yet but i'll post some when i figure it out). Boss will be 5mths tomorrow and i'm soooo in love with him. I'd never met a doberman before i met Boss's dad (Blade) but now completely love the breed.
I initially stumbled across this site when i was googling a q i had but think i might hang around because it seems like there is alot i can learn here :-) My question was about his teeth, the big long ones (are they the cainines), his adult ones are growing inside his baby ones so he has two sets and i was wondering if they would naturally fall out as the adult teeth grew up further or if i should see the vet about getting them pulled. anyway this morning i checked them again and one of the baby teeth has fallen out so i'm asuming the other three will also. We are dropping into the vets tomorrow anyway for his 5mth weigh in so i'll double check with the vet nurse.

Oh I was just looking through your photo album and thought to myself, boy it looks very Australian where you live, so I looked at where you are from and noticed your an AUSSIE too!!!! YEAH! I don't think I've met any other Aussie on this forum yet! So excited!
Where in Aus are you? We are in Perth. Just moved here from QLD. Where did you get your boy from? lol sorry for all the ? Can you tell I'm a little eexcited?! LOL

Yes, his baby canines should fall out on their own. Retained baby teeth are more common in small breeds. Just keep an eye on them. I'm sure your vet will have some advice for you too when you go :)

Hi Luke_Sain Yes we're from Australia :-) we're in NSW. You don't see many Dobes in Aus do you, in fact the only two dobes i've seen besides Boss are his mum and dad (and his litter mates ;-)) I wonder why, surely if people had dealt with them much they'd want one to HEHE We got Boss from a family friend, his 2 dobes we're woth bought from registered breeders and i know he used to show the dad but i don't think he is a registered breeder. His male is 12yrs old and the bitch is 4yrs so he just wanted to breed them once to get a son from Blade (Blade is Boss's dad). They had a litter of 11 pups..... and have kept 2 themselves (they couldn't just choose 1)so now have 4 dobes. They only had 5 available when we went to pick and they all just looked the same. In the end we picked Boss because the pups were all just playing and not paying any attention to us, wouldn't come when we tried to get there attention etc Then our youngest Emily who was 2.5yrs at the time crouched down, held out her hands and said come on puppies (in her cute little baby voice hehe) and Boss looked up at her, stopped playing and went to her and sat down for cuddles and played with Emily. So we took that as a sign and he's been so wonderful with the girls. Straight away he has played with the girls differently to the way he plays with Ray and i, its like he know he has to be gentler with them.
We we're looking into FIREAX in Sydney before our friend told us he had just had a littler. Where abouts did you get Harley from? How old is he?

K Tron Hello :-) Thank you. Yes those are our girls in the photo. Jessica has just turned 6 and Emily will be 3 in Feb. Thanks for the info on the teeth, i'm of to the vets in a second for his weigh in. They love him there to cause they don't often see Dobes so we're very keen for me to continue brininging him in for little plays :-)

Boss is adorable! I also have two girls mine are 7 (just turned) and 4 in feb lol.
We got Harley from a breeder in QLD. Wattavue dobermans. She picked Harley out for us and man was that the best thing I've ever done! There really is no other way of putting it other than Harley is perfect for our family. I would highly recommend her if you were ever after another pup! Harley's dad came from NSW. He was a grand champion in a few shows and Harley's mum was the first ever undocked doberman to win BOB. She's also a champion in agility and has quite and extensive rep in the show ring. Our Breeder does mostly showing and only has a litter when she wants a pup for shows.
Harley is about a week and bit off 11 months now. They grow so very quickly! Cherish every single moment with them 
I'm pretty sure I've posted this pic already but here is my boy about a month or two back. Will take some more shortly though :)
So glad there are a few of us aussies on here now! Makes it heaps easier when it comes to getting advice and tips on where to buy food, breeders etc.
Looking forward to getting to know you all better! Oh and keep them pictures comin.....we LOOOOOOVVVVVEEEEE them!

I'm in NSW too! I was just sayin the same thing about there not being many dobes around. And I also get asked alot, what breed Dexter is. Maybe its the tail that confuses them? Or I get told "he looks so much like a rottweiler". I'm sure they think he's an underfed rottweiler lol.
Boss is gorgeous. The photo of him at 18 weeks sitting on your daughters lap, I have exactly the same photo of Dexter with my 4 yr old daughter arent they just the most lovable creatures.
We got Dexter from Bravadobe in Perth, was on the waiting list for well over a year. His father is Aust Ch bravadobe rebel assault and his mother is Parima its front paige news at bravadobe, sired by American Champ Cimbria's Cactus cash. Nichole picked him out for us and we picked him up at Sydney airport. Longest wait of my life.

Boss - I don't see where you got an answer on the puppy canines (fangs). If they don't fall out on there own shortly after the permanent ones start it, they should be pulled as they will interfere with the normal pattern of the permanent ones. Normally they fall out or are pushed out by the permanent ones.
Your vet should be able to take care of it rather easily.
Good looking boy though.
KiaOra Carol and Boss, We are just over the ditch...Waves :) Lovely lapdog....Q will still attempt to sit on my lap. He does it craftily....backing up slowly...as if i wouldnt notice till his bottom is on my legs lol
