Gettin Bigger
Here's Mr. Gideon @ 13 wks today.

So Cute!
Awwww, it seems like just a few months ago my Ziva was that size. Gunny's right---he's going to be all grown up before you know it. He's gorgeous!
What a stunner!! Love those long long legs...
Hickory, your boy is such a dandy. He looks like he is calm and cool. Or is that just shutter speed? Haha!
Great photos, beautiful dogs !
@bbroyles - calm and cool = doberdude - the two don't go together do they !! :)
Definately shutter speed lol! Actually, he was taking a break at the moment - not many of those. He's usually in full motion when he's out of the crate.
Having a little trouble with him listening to the kids. My eldest - 13 - can handle him pretty well, but my 12 and 11 yr olds don't assert themselves very well, so he's positioning himself in the pecking order. My younger two are both Autistic, so it's hard to explain to them and get them to do what they need to to put him in his place. This is going to be a challenge. That said, he is a great little (right now) dog.
Hickory- maybe look into a training class with him and your kids. It may be something fun for all four of them.
That's a great idea! I'm putting him in as soon as he turns 16 wks, but I don't know if they would let both do it. I have also been considering private classes with a trainer I met (she has three dobes herself), so I could definately have them do some work with him then, too.
I started w/ both of mine younger. As long as they are UTD not done alot of trainers will start one on one stuff.... It may be very helpful... good luck!
Mr. Gideon eating his breakfast. He likes to lay down to eat - our beloved German Sheperd, Roman, who passed a few years ago used to do that.
Gideon's 15 wks now.

How cute,he looks like a little baby with kibble on his nose.
Aw! He has the sweetest face. :)
Here's Mr. Gideon with his two playmates. Hellen (the white one) is now his favorite. She's deaf and mostly blind - but she gets around extremely well and loves to roughouse with Gideon. Reggie (the blue merl) is Helen's brother - he never leaves her side. Gideon has a blast with these two...

Look at that little fat belly on him. He's 34 lbs at 15 weeks.

Thanks for sharing!
Good looking boy!
Here's a better one. Reggie is really good with him.

That is too cute! Thanks for sharing!
Looks like collie- love to me...![]()
Great photos and beautiful dogs.. I grew up with collies and have a warm spot in my heart for them.
The collies have a game they like to play - one will run and the other will grab onto his/her tail and run behind. Well, Mr. Gideon has learned the game - Helen (the white one) was swinging him in circles. I will try to capture a pic next time they're playing.
I can totally picture that!! Deeks loves to "play" with our Shiloh Shepherd (11yrs-old) who considers his play "harassement". He pulls on her tail and will sit on her just like Mr. G is doing (her head is his favorite place to sit). Must be a dober thing :). He is a great looking pup!
Oh...forgot to give some input on training. Deeks has been in training since 9 weeks old, he is now 20 weeks old and we are starting off lead training. He started one-on-one and then progressed to classes once he had the basics down. My son is also autistic and basically nonverbal, he does however know the commands for "sit, stay, come, and down". He can work Deeks and will reward him with treats. He gets a big kick out of giving the treats and Deeks is actually very, very good about the whole thing. The training has helped immensely with his energy outbursts but I do walk him twice a day, faithfully! This helps even more. We are fortunate enough to have enough space (11 fenced in acres) to turn him loose to burn off the energy, which is incorporated into his walk. We do 2 miles a day right now, hope to increase that as soon as the weather cools some. He does not like the hot/humid weather and seems to tire more easily.
Charlenecm - I think that's awesome that your son knows the basic commands! I will follow your lead and teach Noah how to do it - he'll be tickled when Gideon does what he says for once lol.
I'm working on recall and on-lead heeling right now. Actually, I tried him off-leash just yesterday and, although he hasn't really gotten the command down, he did a decent job. I just had a treat in my hand and held it just above waste level as I walked and he moved right along, head up. That was in my fenced-in yard though - wouldn't dare try it out in the open at this stage.
It's all over now...he found out he could climb up on the couch.

Okay everyone on the count of three:
AAAWWWWWW!!!
Nothin like a nap on the couch!
I see you use the crate as a table top too! I've had all sorts of things stacked on these huge crates!
Couches were MADE for dobermans...didn't you know that? Bet you do now. He's a very good looking doberdude.
awwwwwwwwww
The only problem that Reggie and Helen have is while Gideon can grab their tail and play, when they try to return the favor, there nothing there for them to grab.
Beautiful babies!
But daddy, the couch is sooooo much more confortable than that hard floor. His mama didn't raise any dummies.
Princess would probably be up on mine except that it is occupied (with boxes).
Yeah he sprawled out on it again today - took up half. I don't mind it but momma is going to have something to say about it I'm sure. He's too big for my chair, so I always have a seat :-)
Had to share this one too. Fell asleep with his favorite toy...

Great thread Hickory! I don't know how I missed it before, but I am glad I could catch up. I love all the pictures. I think Gideon and Harley are about the same age. Its great to watch them grow up, isn't it?
Great picture! Once they realize they can get on the couch...it's all over. Problem for me is that Deeks thinks if the chihuahua's can get in my lap then he should be able to as well!!! (he even brings his toys) Nothing like a dobe dropping his 5 lb knuckle bone in your lap to get your attention since he can't sit on it. Or laying his head on your keyboard while you are typing...I will have to post a picture of that. What attention seekers they are :)
Gideon is looking great! They do grow sooooo quick! It is amazing.
A dog and his boy...

Gideon is officially a lap dog now. This is him at 19 weeks with my oldest. He fell asleep with me in my chair last night, too. Kept me warm, at least. He'll be a good winter companion.
Hickory you and your family are now officially "owned" by Gideon. Isn't it wonderful.
Princess will come an put her head around the screen of my laptop in the evening so that I can no longer type. I will close it and put it up and then sometimes she wants out, the other times, she turns and leaps into my lap, all 75 pounds of her. Last night she was in it twice, the first time sitting up with her head on my shoulder, the second time curled up like a cocktail shrimp for about an hour. They truly are lap dogs if you let them.
Love the photos!
Well, Gideon found himself a new playmate - a three year old red Doberman named Zeus, who lives one street over from us. My oldest was walking him yesterday when Zeus' dad came and introduced himself. They let the boys play for a few minutes and they got along famously. We had no idea they were there! Looks like play dates are on the calendar. Getting to be time for some updated photos. I'll attach some soon.
Ooooo how fun! Cant' wait to see the photos ( hope you have a stop action on your camera... they are soooo fast!)
Omg he is so precious!! I love the one of him with the other dog, Reggie. So cute!
Remember this kid? Still growing into those legs...

I have a picture of Princess like than with her on the floor and her front legs stretched out. I sent it to a friend and she responded back that they weren't legs, they were stilts.
He is wonderful.. LOVE those long scopey legs!! just you wait til he grows into them
I suspect he will be a pretty good size. His dad was a monster! Not oversized, just big.
My what long legs! Tall for sure! He looks like such a character!
he is one handsome man, thanks for sharing
Thanks, guys. You can see where he's had his toys out...a Dalmatian slipper (his fav), a stuffed bone he can't seem to rip to shreds, and my son's shoe. He was having a time.
Are you gonna play with me?

Aw what a good looking dog!
