The field...It is win.
The dogs agree. I honestly don't know what I'd do if we didn't have the space to run them every day. I don't think my boring up-and-down-the-lane training walks would suffice, to say the least.
"Did you throw it!? Did you throw it!?"

"It's OK, I got it."

I think the Skinny Dog got it in the end.

The face...It is that of evil.

Donkey-Dog got her nickname for a reason. When she was a puppy, her ears would actually touch her nose...

The barrel actually did some running this time.

Wonderful pictures.. what fun they're having.. Thank you for posting.. Love the Donkey Dog photo, although Kaye is truly stunning!!
I know what you mean about letting them run free, it just doesn't seem like enough exercise for them walking on a leash all the time. A few times a week I take him to the field and just let Rocky run. And he loves it....!
Nothing more beautiful than watching him run full out accross the field...
Thanks, all. :-)
I used to walk the dogs twice a day religiously, but since my last Dobie, I just got out of the habit. The field was used maybe once a week before him, and now, just over two years later, the field is used daily and the walks are pretty much nonexistant.
I used to think of walks as going to the park and socialising with other dog owners, but now it's just a way I train them. Instead of going to the park for some physical exercise, we go up and down the lane on a lead for some lead and passing-by-that-weird-dude-who-lives-next-door training.
They don't get the dog-to-dog socialisation I'd like them to have, but it actually works better than the old way, which surprised me a little. When Kayenne was a puppy, I took her for two walks a day for the socialisation aspect, but that was kind of a waste of time, LOL.
Yep...I don't like having to rely on the field, but it's great that it's there and I'll continue to take it for granted.
Very beautiful pups! We plan to leave Enzo's ears natural and his are currently huge in comparison to his head. Just like his feet ... :)
They look so happy! I think the field is perfect! Great action pictures.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these pics!!! The action shots are great and they are absolutely stunning.
Wonderful pictures, tooooo funny about the evil biting dog pic love them,
Thanks all. :-D
I'm definitely a big dog person, but I don't think I could be without a Jack Russell. They're like compact Dobermans! :-P
Enzo's Mom, Enzo is adorable. Kay never had chunky-puppy-paws, which is why I thought she'd be a pretty standard sized Doberman. Not too small, not too big. She's HUGE, and sounds like a horse when she runs. I thought Dobermans were meant to be silent killers?! Pfft.
Here are a few photos taken earlier this month of the Doberdawg enjoying a run in the rain, at the local sports ground.

And a photo of Kayenne obeying the "Silly small dog trick". I just thought her face was hilarious. :-P

And, just for the cuteness factor...OHMYGOODNESS, it's Baby Tia on the first day home. She was the cutest puppy I've ever had.

LOL awesome pics. She looks soooo sad in that next to last pic. She is like "these tricks are sooo beneath me" LOL
FABULOUS SHOTS!!! : )).. Wow they look so happy when they run don't they!!! Thank you for sharing.
Mary
Love the pictures!!!! Baby Tia is a cutie pie!!! you have a great way with the camera....the small dog trick that's just too funny.....
That's the only trick Kay does. "Shake Hands". She doesn't even do "Paw" (left paw). And I didn't teach her to "Shake Hands". Somebody else did, to my disapproval.
Kay's my obedience (and tracking!) dog. Great at most things obedience related, and picks up new commands really quickly. She just fails at knowing how to react appropriately to certain things. Like dogs.
"Is that a threat?!"
"No, Kay, it's not."
"I think it is!"
"It really isn't."
"No! No, it is!"
"It's a Chihuahua, Kay."
*Crickets chirp."
Back to the field being win. I took them all up for a short run today. It's been so hot...Definitely a winter person, right here. After about ten minutes, there were ready to come in, and I took that moment to cease the opportunity to get a group shot.
Much like Kay trying to understand her 'Dobie instincts', that failed. I had 'em all piled neatly in the shade, when a neighbours spastic cat ran across the field, it's little bell jingling all the way. Tia went deaf and ran herself into a spikey tree. (She was okay.) The little dogs also ran after the cat, but all decided it was really too hot, and just stopped running. I don't think Kay even knew what happened. She didn't move...At all. I guess she must be like that friend who turns up when you're in the middle of telling a joke. She'll laugh along with the others, but she won't know why.
Out of 7 dogs (looking after two for a few days), this is the 'groupie' I managed to get.

I'm proud of it. It's one more dog than I usually get.
hahahahaha, I love the picture and the story of how she reacts to a suspected threat. I know that one all too well with Ben now, he hears a noise and perks up and looks at me and says:
"Did you hear that Mom?"
Yes I did
Can I get it
No leave it
Let me get it PLEASE, I'm ready to run right now PLEASE
Don't, Sssshhhh, leave it
But, But, BUT I have to get it
Do Not Bark, Ssssshhhh
(insert dog lifting off front legs from porch floor and forcing bark from back toes up and down the spine to huge mouth and out to the masses at a deafening roar that would wake the dead and seems to never have a break for a breath, lungs completely empty do it all over again terrifiying all the neighbors for 2 mile radius)
(insert me trying to be heard over all this barking to no avail)
(insert standing to place my body between invisible threat and dog)
(finger pointing to the floor being ignored or looked at as if "what me I didn't do anything")
Verbal command "Down"
But Mom it's still out there, get outta the way please
I said Down
But I haven't pinned it to the ground yet!!!
I am not ASKING I am TELLING
Well blasted Mom, now you made me miss it, it's gone now thanks to you standing in my way
What are we to do??? Gotta love em even though they might drive us crazy sometimes. hahahahaha
DobieWan, OMG, these are prescious! Do you have a camera that has a special lens? Your action photos are so clear.
LOL Tali. They might be a bit annoying, but I prefer dogs to burglar alarms. ;-) Kay's actually good in the house. She'll go into the back garden/yard sometimes, and give off her "woo-woo" bark. Usually it's the neighbours cat on the fence, so I don't complain. She used to woo at the neighbour, who's pretty weird anyway...He used to walk willy-nilly into my back garden when I had my aggressive Doberman, so I think he's got a death wish. But Kay's given up taking notice of him hanging over the fence. She's woo'd at the fox a couple of times, as well. She's my chicken-protector...Burglar alarm...Alarm clock...And sometimes, just sometimes, she's that little pain in my neck.
Thanks Gingers' Mommy. To answer your question, this year I (finally) upgraded to a Nikon DSLR D3100. It came with a standard 18-55mm lens, but back in April sometime, I upgraded to a 70-300mm zoom lens. Very rarely do I used the 18-55mm lens anymore, and all of the above photos were taken using the 70-300mm lens. I have two shiny black loves in this world: Kay and Niko the Nikon. Sometimes I prefer Niko...
Of course I'm joking. Occasionally, I prefer Niko. ;-)
Gorgeous pics. It would have to be point and click for me to be able to use it!
Every time I want to smile, I come back to this thread and enjoy the photos of your babies.
Thanks! They are beautiful.
I'm SOOOOOOO Jelly for your camera DobieWan... I wantz one. lol
