Showing Cleo
We were at a dog show on Saturday and my little Cleo cleared the board, she was awarded Best Puppy in Show which meant she went forward to Best in Show and she won that too. We are thrilled. It is almost as if something has clicked with her and she now knows how she is supposed to act in the ring.
She really is a bit of a wiild child at home, really excitable and 'wriggly' when anyone speaks to her but in the showring she acts like a little lady. She stands really well and lets the judge check her over without trying to lick her or jump up (which she does at home!) and then moves round the ring with complete confidence. Here is a picture of her with the rosettes she has won so far along with the silver cup she won yesterday. This was her fifth show and the second time she has been awarded best puppy and best in show. Being biased we know she is beautiful but when the judge thinks so too, its the icing on the cake.

congratulations on your big wins, she is a pretty girl. What country are you from, what type of show was this?
Thanks - natural ears are the norm here in the UK, cropped ears are banned as are docked tails now, Cleo was born in Ireland where docking is not banned - at least not yet.
My husband would love a doberman with cropped ears but it would have to be imported.
Cropped or not, docked or not, they are all special beautiful dogs.
I really like the dark markings of the Euro dogs!

Congrats to you and Cleo! She is quite a beautiful girl!
CONGRATS! She certainly is a beauty.
That's one bonnie lass ye got there Scotty!
Congratulations. GREAT to see the Natural Look be appreciated.
Hi thanks for your nice comments.
I live in Scotland and this this was an Open Dog show - we have three types of shows here, Champion, Dog show where challenge certificates are awarded -a dog needs 3 of these, awarded by different judges, for the dog to become a champion' then there is the Open Dog Show. no challenge certificates but well respected and run by Canine Societies throughout the country; and then we have Companion Dog Shows which is the formal name by which charity dog shows are known, these are more fun shows and the classes are usually any variety in each group = toy, working, pastoral, utility and gundog (do you have similar groups in the US?). And of course there are single breed shows which can be championship shows. All these shows are licenced by the Kennel club and run under their rules.
So far we ae thoroughly enjoying showing Cleo, I think we are hooked !
Congrats to you and Cleo! She is beautiful, and sounds like she LOVES being the star of the show! Good luck to you in future shows, I'm sure she will continue to blow the competition out of the water :)
What a beauty! And congrats!

That's great to see her winning with her ears natural, she is a very beautiful girl. Steve's grandfather also was a winner with natural ears -- it shows another side to the breed, doesn't it?
Congrats!
