Name Poll-which one?
Okay, so my husband and I have a couple of ideas for our new pup's name. I was wondering what you all thought. So, here they are:
Arkham
Phoenix
Raider
Exodus
I don't know why we can't just pick a simple name, but we are an odd bunch!! Personally, I thought naming him Fluffy would be great! Just Kidding!!
So, let me know your opinions on our names, and if you have any other suggestions I am open to them all!! Thanks in advance!
Funny, I'd go for Pheonix and Raider as well. If I ever get a red boy, Pheonix may be what I'll name him! Reuben is a good one too.
Hmmmmm, I usually have my dog in my family about a week before they get a name, unless they come with one, I typically keep what they know. But Goofy came with the name Adidas and that just didn't fit him, he was goofy - I kept saying you are so goofy, you goofy boy, etc. and it stuck so Goofy was his name. I kinda like Exodus, of course other strong names might be Odin, Thorr, Jackson, Einstein, Modred and so on......I had to chuckle at Arkham as I immediately said "Oh Barkham" hahahahaha. My parents named the Rhodesian Ridgeback we had Rojo spanish for Red who was my dad's grand champion and the bloodline of that dog, he wanted to name him after Red but didn't want to use Red so he used Rojo......
Whatever you choose will be just right, let us know what you decide on
I like Raider :)
RAIDER---it's a good name.
I would have to say Pheonix or Raider as well. They are both names that will be cute when he's a puppy and masculine when he's older. I kind of like Pheonix more, but Raider is a bit easier to say...
Not really a fan of Arkham, it is the name of a fictional city and also the name of the fictional prison in Gothem city. Plus, it's kind of hard to pronounce so you would probably end up calling him Ark.
Good luck!
I love Raider... but have to agree with Tali.. it's sort of hard until you see the personality that your pup will be displaying.. Fluffy.. LOL.. love your humor.. have you thought about "Spot"?
@LadyKate: I hadn't thought of "Spot", but I was considering "FiFi" or "Snuggles"!! LOL
@Talisin: I liked your suggestions, especially Odin, I will definately add that to the list!!
Thanks for all the input and suggestions!!
Keep 4-5 on your list and decide when you meet him. Some names just don't fit when you actually have your pup. Rocky was almost Jax...
Phoenix! That's what my husband wanted to name Dakota but it was the name of my work supervisor's dog so we didn't.
I like Loki, Link (lol I'm such a video game nerd), and Raanan personally P: Mythological names fit this majestic breed!
EDIT: Phoenix would be a great name for a dobe. Nix would be my nickname for him :D
My husands brother who has two kids, well they couldn't decide what to name their rottweiler so the kids started calling her D-O-G just the letters D, O, G and they kept it so her name sounded like a foreign name cause it was pronounced Dee-O-Gee it was kinda funny but sad that she really didn't have a name name, but I knew two guys who were twins and couldn't decide what to call their shepherd and ended up calling him Dog, just dog not d,o,g. So you could always hear them saying "hey Dog come here" never thought I would know two people with dogs called just dog and Dee O Gee. At least DeeOgee sounded like a name.
I vote for Fluffy.
Seriously - Phoenix sounds good to me.
LOVE Raider!!!
It's funny how you say you considered Fluffy, because when we were naming Phin and any of our other animals, we started getting carried away and goofy and coming up with name like Midnight, Onyx, Blacky for a white dog, Spot, Snowball, for an all black dog.
My ex-husbands new wife had a cat that they named D-O-G (dee oh gee) too!
I like Raider and Phoenix with Nix as the nickname good idea legend of Zelda!
lol I love the Dee-oh-gee stories. That would be funny but I think I would tire of the joke after a few years! lol. 25ish years ago my parents had a dog named You. They couldn't decide what to name him, started calling him "hey you" and it stuck!
LOVE FLUFFY! Seriously considered naming my girl Phoenix or Sonia (she's red) but ended up with Soleil. LOVE her name but YIKES the Vet's Office and has a heck of a time with it.
More often than not she get's nicknamed... SoSo... or Sol.... are the two common ones now. What I always try to remind myself when naming is try not name your dog something that make you sound crazy to neighbors yelling outside or a name that can be shorted into an indecent nickname... lol.
Well let's see my mom's neighbor has a solid black cat named Casper after the ghost and another friend has a cat that was originally called Bloody Kitty and renamed Damn-it so they would go outside and yell "come here damn it" so bloody kitty changed to damnit. I had a cat named Sugar who was the meanest cat around, he was actually listed on my mom's insurance policy as a liability; had a boyfriend in high school who named his doberman by closing his eyes and stabbing a world map with his knife - his dog ended up with the name Hama - he turned out to be a very massive, strong willed doberman.
another couple of strong names are Nuada; Quaze; if I think of any others will post
Of course, if you were in Louisiana, you could name him Phideaux (Fido in English).
Mine always seem to name themselves, but my latest was named Jake after the song.
my friends had a Border Collie, she passed away last year at 14 (amazing dog). I used to dog sit and Rocky even got to meet her a few times before she got too ill but her name was Enu (japanese for dog) It's not what you call them that matters, it's just that you love them...
My vote is Raider!!! Great name!

I love Phoenix and Raider. They say when you name a dog and I haven't done this everytime by all means that it is best to keep it at 2 syllables
