Why? Why would you want to do this? Am I missing something?

Nope. You are not missing anything.

Pretty sure most here would consider it a bad idea.

Why would you want to breed mutts?? These two breeds are NOT a good mix at all..... kind of like mixing ammonia and bleach - could be very dangerous!  I feel the same way about mixing Dobermans and Rotties...... it's volatile.

True story:

When at the Vet last time with Patience about her throid stuff a lady came in and as soon as she saw the girls asked me if I planned to breed either of them and then said she had a male Rottie and wanted some Dober/Rottie pups.

I was polite and just said no and left it at that but...

That lady was stupid as hell. We were not at the Vet because the girls were 'healthy' and she is wanting to breed her dog with one of them?

I can't figure out why anyone would want to breed their female at ALL unless they were an experienced breeder.  You dont breed your dog just to get puppies to sell, and especially you don't breed a doberman with another breed just for fun.  Geez, it takes all kinds, I guess.

Dobermans are here today because...

Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann served in the dangerous role of local tax collector, and ran the Apolda dog pound. With access to dogs of many breeds, he aimed to create a breed that would be ideal for protecting him during his collections, which took him through many dangerous, bandit-infested areas. He set out to breed a new type of dog that, in his opinion, would be the perfect combination of strength, loyalty, intelligence, and ferocity. Later, Otto Goeller and Philip Gruening continued to develop the breed to become the dog that is seen today.

That happened around 1890ish...

'If' I was of a mind to 'develop' the breed to better serve me and how I do things today in 2021 - I would be seriously looking at tossing some chihuahua in the mix. Way back in 1890 cars and trucks were HUGE. You could easily fit 20 adult Dobermans in the back seat whilst out working collecting your taxes.

Today you would be lucky to be able to get a handful of them in the back seat of anything. The dogs are just 'too big' for the world we live in today.  :(

But if you tossed in some Chihuahua you could have some...

Think about it like having a 'concealed carry' Doberman and it should become clear how this sort of 'development' of the breed would be awesome.

Same here. Hopefully everyone else knows that I was joking as well and nobody is out looking for chihuahua breeding stock. LOL! :)
