I took Gideon out for a walk at about 5am this morning. On our way back my neighbor was preparing to leave for work and let her corgi walk out off-leash. The corgi immediately charged Gideon - he's never been socialized as far as I know. Anyway, Gideon was going to ignore him until he got under him and tried to bite ( got my leg instead). I managed to control Gideon with one hand and push the corgi away with the other, and my neighbor finally got there and grabbed her dog.

Great neighbors, but it's aggravating that I have to check the court before I can walk my own dog. They have a perfectly good fenced in back yard, after all.

I wondered the same thing BET, Gideons person got bit if he contained himself that says alot about him for now, hope you are ok after the bite??? I can see where that would get annoying and of course a corgi would go to bite the legs as that's how they herd cattle......but it's not acceptable......

Corgis are strange dogs.. they have a job to do. and I think he needs a job.. and not biting the neibor lady.. what would make him do something like that.. you are right that isnt acceptable..

I had a biting dog.. we loved him he was a tough little staffishir.. the idiot would attack any male dog just haning from their neck.. It is a terrible responsibily having a dog like that.. I trained him for hunting deer for my husband. he was awsome he would aonly flush out Bucks.. but I was relieved when he died...

well it is late and i should be sleeping..

hugs

I hate people who do that crap. There was this little weiner dog that the owner used to let out in the front yard without a leash even though they had a perfectly good fenced in back yard. They always seemed to do it as Chevy and I were walking by on the street and of course the little monster always wanted to charge Chevy and me. Chevy didnt do well when dogs would charge at us or lunge at us. I always would have to pull her as far off to the side as I could with one arm, and the scoop the weiner up with my foot and toss it into its yard. The owner would always just be standing on the porch screaming bloody murder, not even calling the dog, just screaming. What an idiot. I'm just glad Chevy never got ahold of it.

No harm done to me - but Gideon was furious! He was trying g his best to get back outside for a while, but he finally calmed down. Yeah, they are actually very good neighbors and close friends of ours...just not so responsible pet owners. Tango (the corgi) is actually very friendly toward me and other people, just has never been socialized with other dogs. Not that I would have them hanging out together now that Gideon is maturing, but had he been socialized and they had better control it wouldn't have happened. It was an unusual circumstance though. They let him out front every morning as they are preparing g to go to work. Gideon always goes out back - but I had the gate that partitions our back yard open so the collies could have the run of the property overnight, so I opted to take Goofus for a walk ( which he loves) instead of herding the collie boys back over to the kennel side. They don't listen to anyone but their mother, lol, so it takes me a while to get them in their place. It's all squared away now - I think my neighbors learned a lesson. I'll just have to check the court before I take Gideon out that way in the future, because you never know.
