I am a first time doberman mom and I am in love with my baby girl Willa. We have decided to crop her ears. The vet we plan to use wants to se her at 9 weeks for an evaluation and to determine what type we want versus what type will look good on her. At this time we are leaning toward the military crop, but will see what vet recommends. I also like the medium crop but not sure. Can y'all please post pics of your dogs and their different type crops. Thanks everyone!

IMHO I don't think the military crop looks good at all on a Doberman - seems way out of proportion to the elegant body. If you are leaning that way, please look at a medium PET crop - lots of images of various ear styles on line.

And of course we would love to see a picture of Baby Willa!

I like the long or show cut.

I was told by my vet this is a medium crop. I am very happy with it. (keep in mind she is 5 months in the pic so her head will grow a little more) :)

Please don't go for the " Military Crop" I agree with CRDobe.. it totally ruins the long lean lines of their elegant face.

The medium or pet crop is really the easiest to manage and will give your pup a wonderful look.

Robbie.. how I LOVE the show crop.. it's an amazing look however as for me.. I know I probably wouldn't have the patience to post for the time necessary to stand properly..

In some cases it took up to two years and the results were still not what they wanted..

IMHO, the military crop does nothing for a beautiful Doberman head. For a pet, I would ask for a medium show crop. You want some shape to the ear, and a small bell at the bottom.

There are very few vets that do a good crop - if they crop at all. It is truly an art and I'd rather see natural ears than a bad crop.  Ask for pictures of dogs they have cropped and take them pictures of what you like.  A decent ear crop should look fairly long on a puppy - they do grow into them.

Here are a couple photo's of a Show Crop/Long Crop. Rubie is about 6.5mos old now and in the pictures.  They're so regal looking with the longer crops. Our breeder had these done before we brought her home so they're very, very well done. She's had her posts off for going on three weeks now but we're going to repost in the next couple days as I don't think she's quite done, yet. Good luck!

Wow!! Two years!!  Our dogs ears were cropped by the breeder also. Our dogs are super good when it comes to tapping their ears. But it does get old. Our are 9 months old and we are still tapping. Here is our little stinkers at 5 months.

She is gorgeous, I love her crop. This is why I asked for pictures. I can search medium crop on the Internet but I get images that aren't what I'm searching for. Thanks for the pic!

We met with the vet today. We have decided on a medium crop with just a little more height. Her surgery is scheduled for Aug 10, so excited, but now I'm getting nervous!

I agree.  I don't care for the military crop on the Doberman.  Takes totally away from their sweet, elegant look.

I'm excited but very nervous too. She will stay at vet overnight and I will pick her up Thurs afternoon. Staff has said they will call me as soon as she us out of surgery. If vets office wasn't 45 miles from my home I would go see her tomorrow afternoon. I never thought I would get so attached so quickly. Keep Willa in your puppy prayers please!

Yes, anxious to here and see pics about Willa.

Can still remember that day I dropped Tiberius for his ear cropping, I almost bolted from the office while waiting.  Then the worse, the first time apart,  with the overnight stay.  I was calling all day for updates on my baby.
