Just curious if you guys have run into this?  My otherwise perfectly healthy 6yo spayed doby just started leaking.  We had some issues with incotinence when she was a pup, buy hoped we had it sorted out.

The towel she lays on was totally soaked this morning, and I literally moved her outside when I saw a puddle form under her where she was laying just earlier.  She has been licking herself back there, but I can assure that she in no way acts sick.

The vet I talked to felt like it was just normal incontinence from age and she would need meds.  I am curious if this is the case, what meds are out there, what they cost, can I find them other placed, etc?  Sounds like we can only get 60 count from them, which means this will become a very stupid ritual getting her meds.

Bella has had that about 6 times over 2 years, she is 8, but not recently. I have heard cornsilk is a natural treatment, but have not tried it.

good luck!

I buy a good bit of my stuff at the 1800petmeds.com place. Stuff my local Vet does not stock mostly. If she stocked and sold the stuff I would buy it through her to help support her LOCAL business even if it meant paying a tiny bit more but...

She does not stock tee tree oil, apoquel, or any of the heartguard brand preventatives so those have to be ordered. Some things will still require an exam and Rx from the Vet.

Unaltered Dober girls of that age generally do not leak if kept on a somewhat regular schedule.

I'd first make sure that it isn't a UTI - as they can also cause incontinece.  Spay incontinence is pretty common in Dobermans, and there are several possible treatments for it.  Cornsilk can help, but I have found that it is a temporary fix at best.  Several years ago I had a bitch that developed spay incontinence (she was spayed at age 2 1/2) at around the same age your bitch is now.  She did well for about a year or so on DES - which I believe in a hormone replacement.  After she started leaking again, we switched to Proin - which did keep her dry the rest of her life.

Discuss it with your vet - good luck!
