Any thoughts on these Breeders?
I want to know which breeders to avoid and which breeders to look at when I get a second dobe (probably when I finish my Physical Therapy Assistance degree in college, so about 5-6 years from now).
Also, feel free to direct me in any reputable breeder in in/around Texas.
http://mycartoonpets.com/Home.html I've been looking at this breeder since about mid-September 2010, any thoughts? The breeder is very nice when I asked him a few questions over email and I plan on asking him more when I start to seriously look (or even more serious) for a pup
http://triplecdobermans.com/ I'm a little iffy about this breeder, but I don't know what to think, so any thoughts?
http://www.texassizedobes.com/ DEFINITELY unsure of this since these dobes are over the standard size, but I'd hope for the perfectly standard-sized dobe in there lol.
http://misteldobermans.com/BreedingWeb.htm Their site seems full of information, but I'm still going to have to get an "okay" from you guys just in case ;P
http://www.aeolusdobermans.com/index.htm This breeder seems responsible
http://www.garrettsdobermans.com/ they seem reasonable, again, i need an okay from you guys ;P
Please, please, please don't hesitate to link me to a reputable breeder's site!

Thanks Dabbles! I might as well try and do as many things as I can before getting a second dobe! And yes, I am thinking to show this next dobe and possibly co-owning the pup. It would be a dream for me to show dogs! I'll also be looking into getting a mentor for showing dogs since I am a newbie at it XD
The only one on that list I'd even consider is Mistel. I'm not sure how you came up with so many breeders who DON'T breed for what you say you want. If you're interested in showing your next Doberman, go to a breeder who has actual success in doing that.
Others I'd recommend looking into in Texas are Merrimac, Horizon and Rhapsody. I know that Rhapsody has a site, don't know if Merrimac and Horizon do.
Ah thanks glengate ^^;; They were just breeders I thought would be good for a pet dobe before I recalled that I wanted a show dobe next (whoops). I'll keep those in mind :D
I agree with glengate.
Even if you do choose to buy a pet some of these listed are terrible! The only reason I'm even commenting on this part of your post is for others that may see the title of the post and think that these are good breeders. Red flags should be screaming through your head as you read some of those sites.
Glengate has a very good website with fantastic info that would be worth your time to pour through every link and study. This way you will know when you have a good breeder or not. Like I said even a pet should be carefully planned and purchased with EXTREME CARE. What health testing has been done and what makes ANY of the dogs worthy to be bred? I think if you research most of those names your going to come up with negative things. I've heard quite a bit about most of them.
The only 2 in your list that are good are Mistel and Aelous.
Is there a reason to search in Texas only? If your gonna look for a show puppy are you aware of the expenses that go with that endeavor? If you don't have a quality pup with an even more qualitive (is that a word) handler you will be in that show ring holding a major for someone else! I'll suggest you go to shows for a few years before you get involved in that circle. You will not be on level ground or be appreciated unless you have a pup from a breeder that will "go in" with you on the show deal. Rather you "go in" with them hahahaha, you won't win on your own and you'll spend more than you thought you would even if you go into this with a fairly level mind. Showing is a Hobby (rich folks) Business (those that know what their doing) Game (for the Veterans who know were to go and know when not to go) the Novice (the ones that will get an email once your known so that the major can hold) 'Go in with a breeder on a joint adventure or your gonna get spinned in a circle that goes round n round.
I'm speaking of the akc shows, if you want to have fun and show your own dog then go to the other organizations that are their for folks to get involved without the politics and pro handlers who "know" what their doing. Von
alright. Thanks, Von. I'm taking my time with this, so I'm definitely not going to rush it.

Erika, are you looking to show you 2nd dobe? I know you've expressed interest in that area before.
I THINK Glengate & RnD would suggest going to the DPCA site & starting from there. I also think I remember Glengate talking about going to shows & getting to know people there, evolving into getting a "mentor"...
Good for you, starting your research this early!
