Hello, I discovered this forum several weeks ago and found it to be extremely comprehensive and helpful for anyone seeking answers or information about anything Doberman-related. It is refreshing to see that there are well-educated owners who truly care for their dogs while understanding that they must be trained and treated in a manner most beneficial for them (i.e. not being treated like humans or idiots).
I have been interested in adopting a Doberman puppy for many months now, and have followed this forum for tips and advice as well as thoroughly researching how to properly educate and bring up a Doberman.
I have never owned a Doberman or a dog before, so I am at a loss as to how and where to find a good breeder - I've found a couple online but for some reason most of them never reply to the e-Mails requesting the dates of their next litter of puppies or reserving a puppy. Sadly, I found a website advertising a beautiful two year old male, but as his ears were cropped and tail was docked I cannot import him into Switzerland due to extremely strict cropping/docking laws.
I would rather not purchase a puppy from very far away, as I would like to minimize the trauma of the journey for the puppy as much as possible. Has anyone had any experience with breeders in or around Switzerland (i.e. France, Germany)?
